5 Things I Love Vol. 6 : Leaping into a Leap Year

February 28, 2020 Paris B Leave a Comment

It feels like just yesterday that I was telling you about the 5 things I love for January and the next thing you know, February is almost over!

So much has happened for me, in the past month! I’ll share with you what I can 🙂

5 things i love feb 2020

And, we’re in a Leap Year this year with 29 days this February, so today isn’t technically the last day of the month. To be honest, I cannot believe that we’re ONLY in February. So much has happened globally and domestically that it feels like we should be at least halfway through 2020 already!

I do hope that everyone stays safe, avoid crowded places so we keep the virus at bay, keep a cool head, and don’t pick too many unnecessary fights over political matters that are beyond our control. Keep calm, and eat good food! Everything looks and feels better after a good meal 🙂

As always, I’d love to hear of 5 things that you’ve loved in this past month. Think about it for a bit. There’s always something that will lift your day and mood and bring a smile to your face 🙂

Orange I glad The Body Shop Carrot Cream is back on shelves?

February 25, 2020 Paris B 3 Comments

Seeing The Body Shop Carrot Cream brought back a flood of memories. When I was studying in the UK, oh years and years ago, I picked up most of my very basic skincare at The Body Shop. It was fairly affordable, even for a student.

My mainstay back then was the Vitamin E cream. It was light and comfortable for my skin. But when winter came around and the heating came on, I remember my skin feeling tight and dry. I wandered in one day to the nearest Body Shop store (conveniently located just around the corner from my student residence), and exiting with a jar of orange Carrot Cream.

The Carrot Cream was recommended to me then, as a heavier alternative for a moisturizer, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

So, when I saw the new The Body Shop Carrot Cream, I came over all nostalgic

Grey Hair : To colour or not to colour, that’s the question

February 20, 2020 Paris B 17 Comments

Grey hair is such a sensitive issue isn’t it?

Often, when we discover our first grey (or white) hair, it is with a sense of gloom. It is a sign that age has caught up with us, and that we aren’t the spring chicken that we thought we were.

grey hair

I remember that sinking feeling when I discovered my first grey hair sticking straight up the top of my head in my early 20’s. It was at that exact moment that I knew what the old saying “It’s all downhill from here!” meant.

I then swore that when I started greying, I’d start colouring my hair again. It’s been 20 years since, so have I kept true to that promise to myself? 🙂

Revisiting the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream and reminding myself why I enjoyed using it so much!

February 17, 2020 Paris B 7 Comments

There are some products that are shouted about from the roof tops. There are others that quietly fly under the radar.

The Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream comes in under this second category.

While better known for their makeup, I have to say that Bobbi Brown skincare is something that is worth looking into as well. After all, you’d agree that makeup can only look good on a good base!

I’m actually on my 2nd jar, and when I rediscovered it recently, I figured I’d better tell you about it too 😀

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪
Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam ( Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam (night market). Popped by the one in SS2. Frenetic. Crowded. Lots of food and drink. Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂
Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunt Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunting had me curious about Azelaic acid. It’s a pretty good serum for brightening if Vit C isn’t quite your thing. It’s a 4-in-1 combo of pretty potent ingredients.

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
