This cool autumn season, take a walk with me in the Pupa Velvet Garden

November 30, 2016 Paris B 40 Comments

Life is funny sometimes. You go about, knowing of the existence of a brand for a while, but never get round to checking it out. That was pretty much the relationship between Pupa and I. Pupa is a bestselling Italian makeup brand, available locally at Sasa stores. I recently had the opportunity to check out their latest limited edition collection Velvet Garden, launched for Autumn 2016.

pupa velvet garden collection

As far as Autumn, or Fall collections go, this one is heavy on the purple and burgundy tones, meant to evoke a woman in a garden of purple blooms. According to Pupa International Makeup Artist Giorgio Forgani, the lips were the most important look. I have to say that after testing it out, the Pupa I’M Lipstick is truly the star of the collection. Sorry, not that beautiful blush 😀

I’ll be taking you quickly through the collection, so I hope you read through to the end – you snooze and you lose! 😉

The affordable Faith in Face Hydrogel Mask gives me faith to use sheet masks again

November 28, 2016 Paris B 11 Comments

I’ve just had quite an eventful weekend, with both joyful and sad news that’s left me feeling rather drained. So last night, in an attempt to center myself in the chaos, I picked up the last of my Faith in Face hydrogel mask, and had an “Oh shit!” moment. I’d forgotten to prepare a post for today. Fortuitously, past PB must have had prescience of future PB’s eff-up, for she had taken all the photos necessary for me to rustle up this post in the length of time it took me to indulge in the mask.

I’d bought these Faith in Face masks in a fit of curiosity a few months ago, while browsing in a Watson’s store. I often throw a cursory eye over the sheet mask ranges, just to see what’s new, but without paying a lot of attention to them, for I don’t use sheet masks very often anymore.

But these caught my eye for a few reasons – quirky packaging (reminds you of any brand? Hint: S&G), and the fact that these are hydrogel facial masks. Wait, what?! Hydrogel face masks for just about RM10? I had to try them! 😀

This festive season, The Body Shop celebrates their wildest Christmas with a heart

November 25, 2016 Paris B 4 Comments

Did you know that The Body Shop is 40 this year? Now you do! Now, you also know that I’m actually older than The Body Shop. It makes me weep a little inside. Ok, weep A LOT LOL! In celebration of 40 years and also in view of the Yuletide spirit, The Body Shop has come up with quite an interesting gifting strategy this year.

the body shop christmas 2016

This year, for every Christmas gift set you purchase from The Body Shop, they have pledged to restore 1 square metre of rainforest and contribute to the protection of endangered creatures. In Malaysia, the conservation efforts will be the protection of the Malayan Tiger. This isn’t a one-off effort, as I learned, but one that will go on for 5 years – conservation is an on-going process.

With this worldwide effort (Yep, it’s a wordwide initiative, not just Malaysia) under their Bio-Bridge programme, The Body Shop hopes to rehabilitate and restore 75 million square meters of rainforest and protect them from poaching, exploitation and unsustainable harvesting. I think it’s a great initiative from a brand that is large enough to make a difference, and I applaud their efforts!

Let me also tell you a little about some of the gift sets available, and about this limited edition scent – Vanilla Chai.

Give your anti-aging skincare a boost with Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

November 24, 2016 Paris B 9 Comments

A little over a month ago, I went South to Singapore with Olay to preview a new product, that is now available in stores. When I clapped my eyes on the Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence, I couldn’t help stifling a grin. Truly, there’s now no escaping the pre-essence or treatment essences phenomenon. Especially not when you have affordable options now!

What the Olay Miracle Boost is, is a product that you put on your skin after cleansing (and acid/exfoliating toner if you use it) and BEFORE other serums, essences or moisturiser. Hence the name – pre-essence. If you don’t use an acid toner, you’d apply this immediately after cleansing.

What it is supposed to do, is to boost (hence the name) surface cell renewal, and this increased cell metabolism helps your anti-aging serums and moisturisers work more efficiently. Aside from the boosting activity, it also boosts skin hydration, and that is something I hold dear to my heart. It does what many pre-serums, treatment essences or pre-essences promise to do… for a wallet friendly price! 😉
