Pretty Pop Art Vichy Laboratoires Limited Edition Eau Thermale Spray cans

November 4, 2011 Paris B 46 Comments

This one has been sitting in my Drafts for so long that if I don’t post it now, the Limited Edition cans will be gone before you can say “Vichy”! 😛

vichy eau thermal spray can

One of my first introductions to Vichy Laboratoires is through their thermal spa water. It is thermal spa water in an aerosol can and it is wonderful for cooling yourself down in this infernal Malaysian heat and humidity. I used to use the big 150ml bottle in place of toner at home. Finished up 2 bottles quite quickly, because I couldn’t stop at one spritz 😛

So it interested me mightily to learn that Vichy Laboratoires turns 80 in 2011. 80 years! That’s a heck of a long time to be around! And to celebrate their iconic product – the Eau Thermale Thermal Spa Water they have released a limited edition aerosol can.

The good thing is the price is the same – you just get prettier looking bottles 🙂

vichy eau thermale pop art cans

Cute right? 🙂

I mean, I wouldn’t buy it just for the bottle. But if I were replenishing my face spray, I’d get it. I prefer the smaller can because its easier to tote around and somehow looks nicer.

These days, I travel with a small 50ml bottle especially on trips to neighbouring countries in South East Asia, because there is no better way to cool down in the heat. I was in fact hitting myself over the head (figuratively speaking of course) for not packing the small bottle into my handbag these past few days. It might be raining a storm outside, but where I was cloistered, the air-conditioning was broken, I was bundled up in layers of clothing, it was stifling and hot and my makeup was melting. I could have at least cooled down with this 😛

I do still use this thermal spray to set powder makeup some days, and it is a great way to cool down or calm sensitive skin. I don’t know if it actually does anything, but it feels nice 🙂

Do you use thermal water sprays regularly? Do you have other uses for thermal water sprays to share? I read you can also use this as a mask by moistening a paper mask. I just use it as a toner on hot days, a quick way to freshen up in the middle of the day, and sometimes, to set powder foundation.  You?

Vichy Eau Thermale Thermal Spa Water sprays retail at RM19/50ml and RM40/150ml at all Vichy counters in major pharmacies. The pop art packaging as shown here is limited edition and available while stocks last.

Thanks for the reminder! Summer’s close by and I think I’ll pick a can up from Avene. Or something. 🙂

I always have a small one in my bag. I’m using Avene & sometimes Evian, haven’t try Vichy yet…

I’ve tried Evian quite a while ago. I didn’t like it because it just felt like water on my skin. As in literally water. I haven’t tried Avene although I hear it’s really good or even better than Vichy 🙂

Ever since I discovered how useful thermal sprays are, I have never looked back. I bought the big Avene sprays to bring with me to Europe back in 2009 and they definitely hydrated my skin, what with the dry and much cooler weather there. Strangely when I use Avene back in sg, it had no effect on me. So I switched to Larocho Posay and its really good for my skin especially when it gets sensitive and dry, like the past few days. I also have the twin pack of the 50ml of Vichy Thermal Spray and so far I like it too 🙂 Yay to thermal sprays! 😉

Yay to thermal sprays indeed! I do think that different sprays work for different people, or even different climates as you experienced 😉 I like how Vichy spray nozzles spray out a nice fine spray mist

Erm, don’t really use this kind of things, and I also don’t have the space and I refuse to buy anything in aerosol cans if I can help it because how do you recycle something like that?

Speaking of products of the ilk (basically water that you spray on the face), I liked the Za Energy Water – that bottle I could repurpose. I have a few empties (big and small) lying around. My bro uses it (sort of) as an aftershave 😛

The smaller can looks cuter cos the design is more compact! 😀 I haven’t tried Vichy yet (been a solid Avene user so far), but I just might…. 😛

Avene seems very popular for their thermal sprays. I think I may have gotten one during the last Alliance sale but I don’t know where it is now 😛

haha, spritz it on a cotton pad and swipe the makeup off my face. However, this only applies when i have light makeup on my face – mineral powder and blusher and sometimes with a bit of mascara 🙂

I’ve tried Avene, Vichy and Evian… though I have to say of all 3, Avene is my go-to brand for thermal water sprays (Followed by Vichy and then Evian) 🙂 It may “just be water”, but I find Avene works the best. I use it as the final step in my morning routine- after skincare, sunscreen and foundation, and before eyeliner/mascara. I also use it randomly throughout the day when it’s being hot, humid or my skin feels somehow taut and in need of “refresher”, and also the smallest bottle when I’m on a flight 🙂 I find that Avene reduces any redness on my face better (And faster) than the other brands, and “moisturises” better too, that’s why I prefer it haha 😛 I don’t know- it could just be me!

I have heard a lot of good things about Avene vs the rest too. For those who have sensitive skin, they swear Avene works better for them. As I don’t have sensitive skin that way I guess it’s just whatever cools my skin down …. And is on sale 😛

I’ve only tried the Evian spray, and I didn’t like it as much as I thought so I stayed away from all facial sprays. Good to know that there are good ones I can try once I get over my previous “trauma”, hahaha 🙂

I actually don’t think them necessary in a true sense. You won’t not benefit from not using them but sometimes it is good to have one on hand, mostly on hot hot days 🙂

I’ve tried Vichy, La Roche Posay and Bioderma Crealine ( another french leading skincare brand).I prefer the mist nozzle of Vichy coz its fine, but I can’t see any difference on my skin after using all these. Most ppl here use Avene and Evian. There are good reviews about Caudalie’s grape water mist ( u can find it in SaSa) but its way too pricey compared to euros!

Btw, one more tip, according to my french friends, once u have sprayed your face wt the thermal water, U must getnle pat the excess with a tissue , rather than leaving it dripping all over on your face. She told me if you don’t, your skin will be even dryer.Strange but I noticed my skin did dry out each time I sprayed (without the tissue absorbing motion) and feels wayy better doing tha patting motion. Not sure how its gonna work when u r wearing makeup coz I’ve never tried setting it wt the thermal water, I use MAC Fix +

I have to agree with you about dabbing off the excess mist after spritzing on the mist. I was also taught this by the people at Vichy and like you, it feels much better and not drying at all. For use with makeup, what I do is spritz on and then lay on a piece of tissue over my face and lightly run my hands over. It doesn’t mess up my makeup and it refreshes my skin 🙂

I was told that Vichy and Uriage are highly mineralised compared to Avene in one of thr workshop i attended. And if you taste it Vichy is indeed a bit salty..

Highly mineralized meaning it has higher mineral content? Is that better? Sorry I can’t tell hehe 😉

Hghly mineralized content has higher chances of making/causing skin sensitivity as opposed to low minineralied will reduces the sensitivity of the cells involved in the mechanisms of skin reactivity-making the skin less rective. Was told the low mineralized content would not change the PH of our skin:) and i do have avene.vichy and uriage at home and i can see Avene works better in soothing my skin and give immediate softening effect

Ah I see. That might explain why those with sensitive skin prefer Avene for calming their skin better. Thanks for the info 😉

Hi Tracy, I only used Evian once. I found it just felt like I was literally spraying water on my skin. It didn’t feel as cool or hydrating as the other thermal sprays. But it’s been a while since I actually tried Evian.
