I have liked most of the Hada Labo products I’ve tried so far, so when I saw they had come out with a sunscreen, I had to jump at it. I will say here that I don’t usually like Japanese brand sunscreens. I always found them too drying for me, whether on the face or on my body. So it was not without a bit of trepidation that I tried the Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion. I think the “moist” in the name sold me.
This is Hada Labo’s sunscreen and I believe, a new product. Its not yet launched here in Malaysia at time of writing, and I purchased mine online about 2 months back. I’ve been using it for a while since and let’s just say that I’m very happy with it 🙂
The bottle is a slim bottle that houses 38ml of product. Quite a good size. Being an emulsion, I believe that it is tailored more for those with normal-oily skins because the texture is very light and watery. You do have to shake it up before you use and from my experience, these sort of texture tends to be drying on my skin.
Happily this one isn’t drying at all. I can’t read all the Japanese words on the packaging, but being from Hada Labo, I will reckon that it contains the signature Super Hyaluronic Acid which helps skin retain moisture and feel hydrated. It is very light, like a watery lotion, and absorbs very easily into my skin.
I use it like all sunscreens. Right at the end of my skincare, before putting on my makeup. So I will not use this as a substitute for a moisturizer (I don’t even know if its supposed to be but I never do). There is no white cast on the skin, it does not turn oily at all, it is very light and you don’t even know its there once you have it on.
The nozzle dispenser makes it easy to control just how much you need to apply. I apply it by squirting on my fingers and applying a squirt to each part of my face – cheeks, forehead, nose, chin – to ensure all skin is covered. It states that it has SPF50 and PA+++ protection which means UVA and UVB blockers are present, but again, as all writing is in Japanese, I have no idea what the ingredients are.
However, as it does not break me out, and makes my skin feel very comfortable throughout the day, I’m labelling this one a keeper!
Pros: Light texture, Absorbs quickly, Does not leave skin oily, High SPF protection, Affordable, Compact packaging
Cons: None
I don’t know when this will be available locally It will be available in Malaysia soon but I bought mine online from Adambeauty.com. If you have a known allergy to Hyaluronic Acid then you might not like this one. But if Hada Labo products have worked for you in general, I think you will like this one very much. Its not everyday we find an affordable sunscreen with high UVA and UVB protection that is at once hydrating and not oily on the skin 🙂
Taking a chance here – has anyone out there gotten their hands on this one yet? Do you have any thought on it if you do? 🙂 I’ll update if I hear of it coming in, with the local prices. It will be available in Malaysia at RM49.90. There is also a UV Moist Cream with SPF30. I’ll have to tell you about it another time 🙂

Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion SPF50 PA+++ sunscreen was purchased for US$13.50/38ml online. Unavailable locally at time of writing. Update: It will retail at RM49.90 locally soon.
Oh what a coincidence!
I just ordered the Hada-Labo BB Moist Emulsion and BB Moist Cream from AdamBeauty as well!
They look super yellow, so I have high hopes *twiddling thumbs impatiently*
Recently found quite a few yellow-based BBs but no HG declared as yet 😉
Oho! I just got my Hada Labo BB Cream in the mail 😀 I haven’t had time to open it up to take a look yet but got it out of curiousity 😀
Eekkkk! How is it? I usually rip my packages apart sneakily at work, just to swatch 😛
I’m still waiting for my package. Definitely more keen on the Emulsion since I have oily skin ^_^
So do I but all I did this time was open it up to make sure everything is there 😛 I got both cream and emulsion because i read that the cream is a little lighter in colour than the emulsion. Although I’m a little afraid they might be too dark for me. We’ll see! 😀
I got mine just 10 mins ago! High-5! HA!
Yup – I got them in #2, and the cream IS indeed a shade lighter.
Texture-wise, the cream is very lightweight <3
As for the shade, no pink/gray cast in sight…
Wot a relief 😛
They'll definitely be added to my blogpost on BBs for darker skins with yellow undertones! *pumps fist*
Oh yay! 😀 I got mine in Light so between the 2 of us, we have both shades! HAHA!
Oh!! Sounds like a great product!! Hopefully they bring this in soon!! 😀 😀
I hope so too! I think its really nice!
i’ve longed to try this product but it’s not in M’sia yet
i’ve tried hada labo retinol range and it caused break outs 🙁
anyone with such experience?
It’ll probably come in soon – the cleansing oil is already in anyway 🙂 I tried the Retinol range and my skin really liked it. But it was too strong for the skin on my hands (Retinol can cause skin to peel). Perhaps it just isn’t for you. I’m sticking back to the regular range.
sounds like a good product to me too. hope they bring it here soon but my hands are itchy on adambeauty already 😛
HAHA! Its a dangerous place for me to go to 😛 But I like shopping there for my Japanese stuff 😀 Do note it can be a little pricier there than it is when it comes in here.
oh i hope it comes out in Msia soon…coz the Biore one broke me out….and so far I’m liking Hada Labo stuff…hope it will work for me…since i’ve yet to find a good face sunscreen that works for me…n isn’t overly expensive
I haven’t tried the Biore one but a friend gave me a tube so I’ll give it a go and see if I like it. I know lots of people do. I like most Hada Labo products I’ve tried too (except for a couple) so I do hope it comes in soon 🙂
Sounds like something I’d def use! 🙂 You have convinced me about Hada Labo products. I’m curious to try their entire line, esp this sunscreen!
My personal recommendations from Hada Labo come from the original Super Hyaluronic Acid line (white packaging). The rest have not wowed me thus far 🙂
Too bad we don’t have Hada Labo here! I’d love to try the brand, specially this sunscreen.
I’m sure they’ll go into PH soon 🙂 In the meantime, there’s online shopping options! 😉
Have you tried Mentholatum’s Skin Aqua sunscreens? They contain no alcohol and provide protection through zinc oxide, which is my favourite sunscreen ingredient.
I like Hada Labo, though, so maybe I should try this one. If you had a picture of the ingredients list, maybe I can read a bit of it. Chemical terms aren’t my strong point, though. ^^;
Yup I’ve tried the Mentholatum Sunplay Skin Aqua sunscreen. Sadly, due to the zinc oxide content, it broke me out. Otherwise, it is a nice product too – light on the skin.
Oh, that sucks! I’ve heard zinc oxide is even good if you’re breakout-prone. But I guess people are different. As for me, I found Biore’s sunscreens irritate my skin.
Sadly for me, my skin hates Zinc Oxide despite it being one of the best UV blockers out there. However, a commentator has just told us that the active ingredient is zinc oxide! And this one doesn’t break me out at all so perhaps it could be the composition. But whatever it is, its working a treat on my skin! I don’t use Biore sunscreens either but I haven’t tried the newer milkier formula.
Hi, what is the active sunscreen ingredients for this product? Thanks so much.
I’m sorry I have no idea. My packaging is all in Japanese which I cannot read. Perhaps when it comes in we’ll know what it is in English.
Hi there~
Just wanted to say the active is zinc oxide + octinoxate. the ingredients list is available in japanese on the hada labo site.
I’m planning to order this myself as I have had good results from the hada labo lotion!
Thank you so much for this update!
A good sunscreen is what I need at the moment! I was in the sun for barely 30 minutes today (and I use Clarin’s UV Plus Day Screen High Protection) but my skin’s already red and peeling! =( I definitely will give this a go, thank you for the head’s up! =)
I use the Clarins HP Plus one that I featured before, and it serves me well in our tropical sun. Is yours the same? Perhaps you need higher SPF? (not sure how high SPF you were using tho) And I just saw you are in Kent/London so if you are burning, that is some vicious sun you’re getting!
Yes I’m using the one you featured! I’m now looking at getting even higher SPF because the sun has been terribly unkind to me over the last week! However, the weather’s being really temperamental these days! It’s been raining in Canterbury for two days straight now! =(
Rain! I hate it when it rains in the UK. Hope your weather gets better soon! You need more sun! 😛
YAY!!! thanks for the heads up, I have been waiting for this for ages…I’m using the entire range of Hada Labo and love it all. Can’t wait to try this 🙂
I’ll be sure to update once I know of availability here! 😀
This looks really interesting. Sue Lynn and Paris I think you both gonna be such good friends! hahahha 😛
hi parisB
wat r the ingredients – does it contain ALCOHOL? thanks.
The ingredients on mine are all in Japanese as it came from overseas. I cannot read Japanese and thus do not know what they are. We will have to wait till the local distributors bring them in before we know what they are in English. I believe there is no alcohol but I cannot be 100% certain.
Sooo keen on purchasing this. I’ve been a big fan of Loreal’s UV Perfect Anti Dullness SPF 50+++ sunscreen. I’m wondering if this Hada Labo sunscreen leaves a white cast on the face like how japanese sunscreen does. Do enlighten! =D
I just want to know whether u use bb creAM or not? For me i think the bb creAM causes my pores to be clog. Do you know any bb creAM which won’t clog pores? The review on hada labo cleansing oil is true, it does clog pores.
You can find my reviews of bb creams here. I think pore clogging depends on each person’s skin tolerance with the ingredients in products. Some skin can tolerate some products better than others.
Hi All,
just started trying out the Uv milk my skin is loving it! light and creamy! smthing i always want to ask, do any of you use a make up remover to remove the sunscreen? if im wearing HL sunblock indoor at home, does a regular cleanser just remove it? im super worried!!
I generally think that if you use a sunscreen, its best to use a makeup remover as sometimes it can stick to the skin too much. This is especially if its waterproof. That said, I tend to use a cleansing oil which isn’t quite a makeup remover per se, but a precleanser so my views may differ from others.
