Spa Visit: Energy Day Spa at Great Eastern Mall, Kuala Lumpur

March 2, 2011 Paris B 15 Comments

Hello March.

MARCH! Where on earth did January and February go? And so in this heightened state of stress, I bring you a moment of relaxation. So come with me and unwind at the Energy Day Spa.

I was invited to pay the Energy Day Spa a visit, which I eventually did after much to-ing and fro-ing, some time early this year. I took a friend with me (paid) to get another independent opinion 😉 I’ve since decided to book a return visit because these tight shoulder muscles need some loosening, and I “knead” a good massage. Ha. Ha. 😛

I visited the Energy Day Spa at Great Eastern Mall, Kuala Lumpur. They have a branch at Mont Kiara too if that’s more convenient for you and they serve both men and women. The one at Great Eastern Mall in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur is surprisingly large for a spa located within a mall.

The waiting area is comfortable, and you are required to fill up a questionnaire if you’re new. Basic questions about medical conditions and whether you’d prefer your masseuse to use a softer or firmer touch. The male and female changing rooms are kept separate as is the relaxation lounge.

Ahh… the lounge! (and a special offer below!)

Korres Guava Shower Gel : Greek Guavas must smell like coconut

March 1, 2011 Paris B 10 Comments

I remember Korres being sold here in Malaysia a few years back. I was at a warehouse sale once where I picked up some shampoo and I later found they were expired! The shampoo did not impress me bleh… Its gone from Malaysia now anyway.

review korres guava shower gel

So, when I read how popular the Korres Guava shower gel is, I picked up a bottle on one of my StrawberryNET.com purchases. Korres is a Greek brand and has a bit of a cult following.

I imagined that Guava would smell nice. I like the smell of Guava – I like eating it too 😀 But I’m afraid I did not like the Korres Guava shower gel.

Take A Minute to Sign the Stop Sex Trafficking Petition

March 1, 2011 Paris B 14 Comments

Hello Ladies!

MWS as many of you know is My Women Stuff. The central theme is that of “Women” – plural.

Many of us reading this are lucky. We are safe, comfortable, and independent young women. We have a good, paying job (even if we whinge now and again) and we have friends and family around us who love and cherish and respect us. We are in a safe cocoon.

Some women however aren’t as lucky. They leave their families, friends and their home in their home country in the search for a better job and a better life. Some do it for themselves, and some do it for their families. But ultimately, they do it to earn a better life than they have back in their homeland.

And many are entrapped into the sex industry. An old but very lucrative one for traffickers. Many of these young women who leave their homes in the hope of earning more money are instead trafficked for sex, without their prior knowledge. Its a phenomenon that happens all over the world, not just in Asia.

These young women end up as prostitutes, starved and abused both sexually and physically. Many end up with HIV/AIDS. And it doesn’t happen to just women. Sex trafficking happens to young men and even children. Traffickers exploit the young and the needy for their own nefarious purposes and for profit.

And we should take a stand. We should say “Stop Sex Trafficking!” And you can make your voice heard by signing the Stop Sex Trafficking petition below. It’ll just take you 2 minutes. (If you’re reading this in a Feed Reader or email, please come over to the website to view and sign the petition 🙂 ) Let’s see if by our combined efforts we can push the number of petition signers to 5 million 😀 Yes we can!

This is a Body Shop international initiative and I would love for Malaysia to be put on the map, not as a source or transit point for sex traffickers, but as a nation of women (and men) that says “Stop Sex Trafficking!”. You can choose your own country too by using the drop down menu 🙂

I don’t post these things often, as regulars will be aware. It may not mean much to just sign a petition, but if the petition is collated from all the countries Body Shop has a presence in, and brought to the attention of the relevant international authorities, perhaps there will be more education about this so women and children will be more aware. We may not be able to stop the sex traffickers as such, but we can help educate the public about this problem and in turn, help women be more aware.

Will you help me? 🙂 I’d love for us to be able to push it to 5 million signees 😀

Makeup Artist Tips: Lipstick Application Tips and Common Mistakes

March 1, 2011 Paris B 13 Comments

At the Dior Addict lipstick event, Dior had 2 of their international makeup artists give some tips and pointers about lipstick and its application and some common mistakes people make. Naturally, I was busy as a beaver taking notes so I could come here and share it 😉

dior makeup artists - kim seung won and ivan chew

The 2 Dior international artistes were Mr. Ivan Chew from Taiwan and Mr. Kim Seung Won from Korea (Yes Natalie – you were right!) both of whom created the 4 Dior Addict looks for the event. The focus however, was on lipsticks so here are some tips that were shared.

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜

Place your order, and pick up in store or have it delivered.
Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
