Guerlain Serie Noir Rouge G Fuchsia Délice made me bite the pink bullet

February 11, 2011 Paris B 30 Comments

The pink lipstick hunt continues… and I may have found IT! THE ONE! Naturally it had to be in the budget busting category of luxury lipsticks by Guerlain. Naturally 😛

review guerlain rouge g serie noir spring 2011

Its the Guerlain Rouge G Serie Noir lipstick – a hefty piece of luxury lipstick encased in a black lacquered compact. The cap opens up with a built in mirror as with the regular Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks. Here’s a comparison between the Serie Noir one and a regular silver bullet.

guerlain rouge g serie noir

No difference in size. Its all perspective 😛 No difference in heft either. They are both equally heavy. Or they certainly feel that way. You can check out an earlier review of the regular Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in Grace I did before this. I’ve since picked up 2 more from the regular line but haven’t gotten round to showcasing them 😛

The black lacquer compact is limited edition and so is the colour. I have Fuchsia Délice #70. Now, before you go peeking at the pictures, close your eyes for one moment and imagine what a colour with a name like Fuchsia Délice will be. Bright pink? Bright fuchsia? Oh-my-eyes-so-bright pink? Ready? Now hop along and take a peep below 😉

Fuchsia Délice is a deceptive name. I was worried when I first saw the name. The last thing I needed was another fuchsia lipstick. Pretty colour but not quite an everyday lip for me. I don’t have the Barbie doll personality to go with it 😛 But blow me down if the lipstick in the tube isn’t the prettiest pink you ever did see!

review guerlain fuchsia delice rouge g serie noir spring 2011

I loved it in the tube. The contrast of the pink and the black is at once decadent and luxurious. Love! But I was still a little worried. The pink in the tube is pretty but I wasn’t sure if it would look right on my skin.

I needn’t have worried. Unlike the regular Rouge G line, the Serie Noir lipstick goes on sheer and glossy. It swatches sheerer than it looks, which suited me fine. I can wear this with just 1 layer for a light sheer glossy pink lip or layer it on for a brighter glossy pink lip.

review swatch guerlain rouge g fuchsia delice photos

It is not in the least bit drying, and despite being glossy and having lots of slip, it lasted me through coffee and water for roughly 4 hours. That’s perfect by me!

I’d wear this with a stronger eye but muted cheeks, so the pink comes through, but isn’t overwhelmed by pink cheeks 🙂

Pros: Lovely smooth glossy texture, Sheer but can be layered without caking, Beautiful packaging, Lovely colour

Cons: Scented, Heavy to carry, Very pricey!

Everytime I whip out the Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks, and the mirror pops up from the cover, I think to myself “Show off! Who uses that?”

But yesterday I found myself having to touch up my lipstick while walking outside (Kids! Do not try this at home!) and for once, I was thankful for the mirror in the cover. Its large, so I can see my whole lip and it was a cinch to swipe on Fuchsia Delice and make my entrance 😉 So yeah. Show off! 😉

I realise its a pricey lipstick but have you tried any of the Guerlain Rouge G lippies? I love the texture and colour and the fact that they aren’t drying but feel beautifully light on the lips. Its a worthy splurge for me 😀

Paris B

Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks retail at RM158 each at all Guerlain counters. The Guerlain Serie Noir Rouge G is limited edition for Spring 2011 and comes in 3 shades.

Love the color on your lips, matches your skintone and eyeshadow, was it grey or lilac? Anyway, matches you perfectly!

Yes. Your beautiful lips inspire me to desire more~ lippies 😀 Yes, perfect for the smooching season and excellent for all seasons 😀

By the way, went to Isetan Gardens last night to check out the lippie, unfortunately, no Guerlain promoter to be seen though. What a pity 🙁

Isetan Gardens Guerlain promoter is always missing or doesn’t know a thing. Its such a pity! There was one older lady at the counter who is more helpful but I forget her name now. Most times though I see the young ones who know nothing and are never there 😛

Ooh wow! You look real good with this one! Suits you. This one doesn’t suit me but I’m so gonna try out the orangey shade when I get back. Pricey, but yes, well worth the price, me thinks.

Thanks Nadia! The Orange one was a tad warm on me although I liked the nuances too. Maybe if I’m feeling flush you know… hehe… I hope you get it – they are so worth it! Well if you like lippies and all… 😉

This is the kind of pink shade I’ve been looking for! RM158 for a lippie is pricey. I went to The Gardens to check the blush out and they were so beautiful I almost teared. Mum agreed it was beautiful but thinks it’s not worth the price. I’m still thinking of getting the blush and have now added this lipstick to my list! 🙂

Eeps! Not familiar with Shu 🙁 Numbers confuse me 😛 and the case is very fingerprint friendly. Its like the blush case so less visible prints than on shiny metal 😀
