Save and Splurge: The Anti-Frizz Hair Care Edition

December 1, 2010 Paris B 18 Comments

I have what is commonly described as dry frizzy hair. I didn’t know that until I was once diagnosed to have “kinky” hair… hair with kinks. Sometimes, I find a hair on my head so kinky its curly, and it’ll stick out from my head in a weird manner.

Since then, I’ve found some hair treatments to combat this frizz, most of which I’ve reviewed before this. But here are some I’ve tried and incidentally, which fall into 2 price categories – save and splurge! 😀

Yes ladies, we are back with a Save and Splurge hair edition 🙂

save and splurge quick reviews on anti frizz hair treatments

Save: L’Oreal Elseve Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Hair Mask – RM20+

I can’t remember the price anymore as I bought it so long ago. This one’s easily found at most pharmacies and supermarkets and it works decently well. I do prefer the Elseve Damage Care mask as I find whilst this one leaves my hair smooth(ish) it doesn’t leave it quite as soft. It does help to defrizz so I look less of a mushroom and more like a human, although the effects don’t last.

Splurge: Rene Furterer Myrrhea Anti-Frizz Silkening Conditioner – RM120/250ml

A splurge item, this is worth its money. I would personally shell out money for this one, after testing out the sample before this. In the main, its because I like the smell, which is musky and spicy and somewhat warm and comforting for me. Defrizzes hair in a pinch with just very little needed. You may read my review here.

Splurge: Kerastase Oleo Relax Anti-Frizz Smoothing Hair Mask – RM200/250ml

Kerastase is luxury hair care so like many luxury products, its in the splurge category. I’d use the Rene Furterer Myrrhea for everyday or every alternate day and the Kerastase Oleo Relax for a weekly treat for the best results. Read full review here.

Of the three featured, my personal pick are the Splurge ones because they work better for me. The L’Oreal one works in a pinch though, and it doesn’t pinch your pocket 😉

Save and Splurge is where I show you similar items by different brands that I have tried. They may not work quite the same way, but it’ll offer you options for your wallet for a similar effect/product. Do note however, that it is based on products I have tried, so whilst there are many save and splurge options out there, these are my views. You can find more under the category of Challenges.

I still don’t get hair care… :(… Someone needs to sit me down to tell me which is which… >.< To make my hair not messy (or to tame it), I cut it short, or, I rebond it… ^.^

Wah rm120 and rm200 hair mask. After you apply it on your hair for few minutes and wash it away. It is like “washing/throwing” money down the drain.

I have ‘curly’ hairs that are so ‘curly’ that if I were to hold a strand upwards,
it will stick up and not ‘fall’ as with my other hair. Is this kinky? This is a new term for me. I used to have lots of ‘this’ sticking out of my head which made me so embarrassed when in my younger days whereby there are limited products to help my situation. Nowadays I see lesser of this (think due to better hair products available to us nowadays) but once a while an occasional strand does pop out.

Yep! Sounds like you have kinky hair too hehe… I don’t get them as often if I treat my hair properly but if I don’t then its kinky hair galore!

I’ve tried Loreal, Keratase, Schwarzkopf…. and it didn’t really workout for my long straight hair until finally met my one and only love, Rene Furterer 😀 It’s No-Rinse detangling spray is really a miracle. Just spray a few times after washing and my hair just turn smooth and silky when it dries, without needing to comb! But, yes, it’s a big splurge. 🙁

Hi everyone.I used to buy all these hair treatments as I love to use many styling tools. Therefore, I need to treat my hair every week with the hair treatment. FYI, I love to spend my money on my hair. Before this I used Redken Super Moisturizing Mask and another few from Redken. Then, I changed to L’oreal and Kerastase and Schwarzkopf. I could say that the best was Kerastase. But then, when I came back to Malaysia, I tried Sunsilk Damage Treatment (in orange packaging).Trust me, that one is the best ever.I still use that till now.My hair used to be dried but now never better 🙂
