New Lust : Prada Saffiano Lux Open Tote

September 12, 2010 Paris B 15 Comments

I always associated Prada with the nylon bags and backpacks that were all the rage in the 80’s. So much so I stopped paying attention to the brand. The next time my eye was caught by a Prada bag, it was the discontinued Antik Cervo one in The Proposal.

Here’s another that my eye has been caught by – Prada’s Saffiano Lux Open Tote.

I love the clean lines and the classic design. The bag is designed to be hand held but if you are petite and under 5′ 5″ you will be able to sling it on your shoulder quite easily. You can’t move your arms around much, but it’ll stay up.

The leather is calf leather which is hardier than lambskin and I like the gold hardware which adds a touch of elegance. It looks simple and classic. A bag I’d carry till I’m 80 😛

I checked it out at our local Prada boutique at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and was happy that its not very heavy and although it is open, there is a magnetic clasp to hold the opening shut. Besides its deep enough that things will not fall out nor will prying fingers be able to reach in unless you aren’t careful. Its really quite large.

The blue is a limited edition colour I believe from perhaps a year or two back. Barolo Red is a dark red that made the bag look HUGE on me, while black surprisingly did not.

When the sales assistant quoted a price starting with “Six Thousand…” my ears and mind shut down 😛 Its roughly RM6,500+ so its something nice to lust after eh? 😉

Oooh, those ARE lovely. Very classy.

Hee hee, I remember days of black Prada nylon sling bags too. In fact, they were so popular, I bought a ciplak one at Batu Ferringhi 😛

You reckon? 😉 Its a nice leather though. Looks hardy but can be a bit heavy if you fill it up.

It kinda look like the LV bag, w/o the tree bark like lines on the leather.
