When I last told you about the Guerlain Anti-puffiness eye patch, I spent so much time on the floor looking for lost jaws after revealing the price, I thought I’d offer a quick (and maybe more affordable) option – hence Save and Splurge!
Save and Splurge is where I show you 2 similar items by 2 different brands that I have tried. They may not work quite the same way, but it’ll offer you options for your wallet for a similar effect/product. Do note however, that it is based on products I have tried, so whilst there are many save and splurge options out there, these are my views. You can find them under the category of Challenges.
Taking my cue from the Guerlain eye patch, we start with eye treatments.
Save: Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll on (RM21.90)
So many people love this and its pretty affordable too because you can get it on sale. The Garnier Roll On rolls on the eye area and cools it down. It does not deflate my eye bags as quickly as the Guerlain patches did but it feels lovely on.
Roll it on, pat off the excess and relax. Other than the lovely cooling effect on my eye area, it didn’t do much for me in terms of reducing eye bags, or dark circles.
Splurge: Dior Capture Totale Instant Rescue Eye Treatment (RM270)
Been using this one for months off an on. Think of it like the proverbial cold teaspoon over the eyes but a tad better. The flat top applicator is made of palladium – a metal that cools down quickly between uses and draws heat away from the skin very quickly too so the eye area feels and looks refreshed.
You can squeeze out the eye cream and apply it with the applicator, gently pressing on the area around your eye – the Dior SA will show you how. I’ve nearly finished the cream, but I’m keeping the tube for the applicator just to refresh my eyes in the morning. Saves me the trip to the fridge to pick up a cold teaspoon in the morning 😛 I do find that it helps depuff eye bags slightly and it certainly makes you feel more awake plus I just like the cool feel on my skin.
If you liked this, I’ll try to have more Save and Splurge recs to come from time to time:)
Now, which of these 2 items have you tried and which do you like? 🙂

I don’t like this, I love this! I just don’t think Garnier Eye Roll On works for me.

Didn’t quite work for me either – its just a fun eye cooling thingo for me

I’ve tried the garnier but it doesn’t seem to really work. On my side of the world, there’s a new release of this product. Rather than the clear gel this tube dispenses, the new release dispenses a tinted version. It comes in 2 shades. I’ve yet to try them. Let me know if you’re curious and I’ll send a tube over. It retails for AUD15.95 on sale 😉

I saw the tinted version online! Looked a tad grubby once you roll around often though. Don’t think we’re getting it here hehe… I’d have said yes to trying but not at those prices! Can’t justify using it enough 😛

Hmmm, I’ve never tried any eye-skin care before, but I really was curious about the Garnier one for a time….
ParisB says
Its fun if nothing else 😛

More of such things pls! Hehe… I’ve yet to try either, but I guess I’ll give Garnier a try since the price is so cheap comparably =D
ParisB says
Thanks – I’ll showcase other Save and Splurge items when I come across any 🙂

i’ve been blessed with the ability to NEVER get darkcircles, bags or puffiness around the eyes, yes, even if i cry at night! crazy. hehehe. i can go without sleep or with only 5 hours sleep a night for a week and my eyes show nothing. but my skin turns gray. hmm. zombie alert!
but i’m getting slight fine lines and crows feet now. getting olderrrr! this Dior one is not for fine lines?
ParisB says
It is supposed to help. But don’t take my word for it because I don’t have a crows feet problem… for now *touch wood*

I have the garnier roll-on and it didn’t work at all. Kinda pricey for something that doesn’t work. (the moisturizers is cheaper) But the only time I get puffy eyes were the time I’m allergic to something. I use antihistamine instead.

I’ve been wanting to try the Garnier roll on for ages but I’ve heard mixed reviews about it so I’m not too sure.. Might still give it a try if I find it on sale though.

I just bought Garnier! RM18.88 and it had some samples stuck on it too. You’re right that it doesn’t really work per se but it’s fun

I like the Aqua defence Garnier roll on…I have puffy eyes, and it helps a little.(Not as much I would like it to, though) Luckily I bought it during 50% sales. =p Nevertheless, it’s really cool n refreshing.
