MyLipStuff Orange Creamsicle Lipbalm – Dessert without the calories

July 2, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

For many, lip balm is an indispensible item. For me, you’d be hard pressed to find me using lip balm at all. I used to a long time back but never in the day and only at night before bed. When I discovered that pure Vitamin E oil worked better, I opted for that – more economical.

But with a name like “My Lip Stuff” on a blog like “My Women Stuff” this product just screams for me to review it doesn’t it?! 😀

I’d come across MyLipStuff or My Lip Stuff lipbalms before this on my online travels. It comes in like a million flavours… or maybe 500 flavours… from something like Cat Pee or Dog Poop; to something quite ordinary like Passionfruit-Orange-Guava or Orange Creamsicle like the one we have on offer today.

As far as lip balms go, this one isn’t bad. In our hot tropical weather, it slicks on very easily but I’m sure that if you leave it in your car, in the hot sun, you will come back to a puddle of goo. I tote it around and I do notice that when I’m out in the sun, it takes on an oily melty consistency but if I use it in an air-conditioned environment, its significantly harder and firmer to the touch. So, thats both a plus and minus point.

As many people have noted, My Lip Stuff lipbalms leave your lips feeling soft and moisturized for longer than regular lipbalm which is a plus. But unless you are NOT sensitive to scent, do be warned that even the nicest scent might leave you gasping for air.

Orange Creamsicle smells like freshly squeezed oranges. Lovely sweet sharp citrus orange smell. It even tastes like oranges. In fact, it tastes just like the Trebor Orange Sherbet sweets! Remember those? Tangy orange sweets with fizzy sherbet in the middle? I looked high and low all over KL to buy these to take a picture but you know what? I couldn’t find it anywhere! Is this sweet discontinued? What a pity if it is 🙁

Its all nice in the day but the sweetness of the lipbalm takes some getting used to and I can’t bring myself to use it night, because of that strong sweet orange smell. I tried it once and I kept feeling like I should get up and brush my teeth. If I’m in the market for a lipbalm next time, I will choose My Lip Stuff BUT I will pick it in an unflavored tube.

Which brings me to the fact that the local reseller of MyLipStuff lipbalms does NOT carry the unflavored lipbalm aptly named – Plain Schmain. Still I am probably in the minority and after all, My Lip Stuff’s selling point is their 500 flavours of lipbalm that they carry.

If you’d like a lipbalm that slicks on easily and leaves lips feeling smooth and soft all day, and you like flavoured lip balm, give My Lip Stuff a try. With 36 flavours available locally and at RM12/tube its not too bad; plus you could satisfy your dessert craving without piling on the pounds 😛

Pros: Affordable, Keeps lips soft and kissable (!), Many unique flavours to choose from

Cons: Too sweet for me

Are you a lipbalm sort of girl? I seriously think I’m sitting here alone and in the minority for never having lip balm on hand. I used to when I lived overseas because the air is so dry there and my lips would peel like a snake shedding its skin; but since coming back to hot humid Malaysia, lip balm is nowhere to be seen on my person.

I just bought strawberries and champagne and loves it! i am ok with the scents and it keeps lips soft and moist. sometimes i use it as a base for lipstick but tends to be a bit shiny. ok if the lipstick is matte, but add more shine to already shimmery lipstick…;-)

That one sounds lovely! Does it have a strong smell/taste too? 🙂 I don’t like lipbalm under lipstick because it makes my lipstick slide around. But its a great way to tone down intense colours 🙂

Perhaps I’m lucky in that regard not to have very dry lips 🙂 But hey! At least you found something that works 😀

I can’t live without lipbalms coz my lips will crack at bleed at nite even without aircond. I still can’t use it in the day unless my lips are superbly dry. Yeap I tried MLS Lipbalms but I just dun like it coz of the beeswax and it’s too oily. This varies though coz I have asked some users that not all flavours are oily. Being too oily will make my lips dry out faster. Weird rite. Same effect I get using petroluem jelly. Btw I’m in love with Crazy Rumours though. Not only it doesn’t contain beeswax I just love the texture. 🙂 They do ship to Malaysia 😀

Ooops sorry for the double typo… So blur today. What I meant was “crack and bleed” and “petroleum jelly” 😛

I use pure Vitamin E oil at night on my lips. I find it way better than any lipbalm I’ve ever tried plus its way economical! As for the MyLipStuff one, I don’t like it after I’ve carried it outside for a bit – then it gets too oily. Indoors, when its harder, its much better 🙂

I find it melting in my bag too. I must try the Vitamin E oil and see how it is like 🙂
