Beautilicious Cosmetics Magic Spell Auto Eyeliner puts me under a spell!

February 8, 2010 Paris B 22 Comments

Let me introduce you to my new favourite pencil eyeliner – meet the Magic Spell Auto Eyeliner by Beautilicious Cosmetics.

Here’s what I like about it:-

  • Its easy to use – just twist and draw
  • Its soft and does not tug on your lids – applies creamy
  • Its dark and can be smudged for a smokey look – yet it does not smudge too much throughout the course of the day

There are 2 colours – Black and Brown. I can’t choose between them. Black is seriously black – its like black crayon and its great for very strong defined eyes. Brown is less harsh and great for a softer look.

What’s cute about the Magic Spell Auto Liner is that its an all in one gadget. It comes with a cute sharpener that you can use to sharpen your crayon if you want a thinner more defined line. Most automatic liners don’t include this so its a nice touch. I don’t usually bother because I line thickly (or it can’t be seen 😛 )

The other cute gadget is a smudger but then many soft kohl type liners have this smudger so it isn’t quite as unique. It does work well to smudge your line so you can do up a mean smokey eye look. I however, use this liner for everyday – it gives me a clean defined look that does not turn me into a panda by the end of the day.

Left: Mini sharpener Right: Smudger with loose cap

It looks like my Guerlain kohl pencil has some serious competition!

I have 1 gripe – yes there is a smidge of trouble in paradise – the crayon will finish quite quickly because its soft and creamy. Also, be careful when you are extending the crayon bit – if you extend it too long, it may break as its quite soft. Also, the sharpener bit feels a bit flimsy when its slotted into the back end of the pencil; and the cap of the liner is liable to crack or get lost quite easily.

But then the Beautilicious Magic Spell Auto Liner retails for RM25.90 so its not exactly bank breaking either to get more 🙂

Pros: Creamy smooth formula, Does not tug at skin, Does not smudge throughout the day, Built in sharpener and smudger, Affordable

Cons: Will potentially finish up quickly, Back bit feels a little flimsy

You can get the liner at Beautilicious counters or better yet, shop at Beautilicious Online. Yep, they now have an online store at www.shopbeautilicious.com which makes it oh so much handier than having to trawl the stores 😀 [Update: Apparently the online store is closed] This is my mainstay pencil eyeliner for now till I find another that’s just as good or better!

Yes! Eyeliner makes a great difference to a look and helps you look pulled together even without eyeshadow 😀

Wah, RM 26 for this thing arz? Rather expensive for pencil liner weh. Of course, this comes from a gal who is always broke… I really don’t trust pencil liners, mainly because they always smudge on me, even with primer (homemade!). As for auto liner, I have one from Beauty Credit, but that one also smudges, haihz.. You are one lucky gal I suppose! And it looks great on you!

Well its way cheaper than the RM100+ the Guerlain pencil costs so yes, its affordable by most standards 🙂 This didn’t smudge on me nor transfer yet is creamy so I’m liking it lots!

very similar to almay 16 hour lasting eyeliner o.o except it not that soft hence won’t break and live up to its name even without primer~! XD

only thing i hate that almay’s not readily available in malaysia and had to get it through online sprees

I’m still attempting to learn how to line my eyes! Only get the opportunity to do this on weekends though… too lazy to try on weekdays, especially since I get up at the crack of dawn. 😛

At the crack of dawn, I’d probably poke my eyes out lining it 😛 Practice will make perfect m’dear! And some day you could line without taking an eyeball out too! 😉

This eyeliner sounds good. I hope its better than majolica’s though. Almost the same price but majolica smudges like crazy. Thanks for mentioning about the website =) Didn’t know it exist. Else I have to go to the mall to get one.

I haven’t tried Majolica so I can’t compare unfortunately. Now that I hear it smudges, I’m not sure I want to try it 😛 Yeah being able to get it online is a huge plus point!

Eh That’s good to know! The only Colorstay I’ve used from Revlon is the lip liner and that has no sharpener – or perhaps mine is too old 😛

Thanks for the review. Always love a good dark pencil for tightlining and waterlining. and it’s cool that beautilicious is now available online. Finding the products that I want at the pharmacy is frustratingly difficult!

Thanks Affiqah. Beautilicious is no longer sold in Malaysia while Canmake is. You can try Canmake or there is the Maybelline Hypersharp liquid liner which is pretty good and affordable too. Good luck.
