New : Dior Capture Totale One Essential Serum

January 22, 2010 Paris B 13 Comments

More than a month ago, I first got wind of a new serum by Dior Capture Totale. It was being launched in Japan (lucky editors who got to go!) On a recent trip to Hong Kong, Dior counters everywhere were trumpeting this wonderful new serum and before I knew it, so were counters in KL.

Dior Capture Totale One Essential Serum

What it is supposed to be is more than just a regular anti-aging serum. The serum helps to clarify the skin and help with regeneration; and at the same time, plump it up to help wrinkles flatten out.

I’ve been on it for about 2 weeks now and I’m waiting for another 2 weeks before I can tell you conclusively how I feel about this serum. So, whats this wonderful new serum then? Dior says its a “Skin Boosting Super Serum” that helps to eliminate surface toxins on the skin, so your other skincare absorbs better.

Here’s what they say:-

MORE THAN A SIMPLE SERUM, CAPTURE TOTALE ONE ESSENTIAL successfully eliminates toxins at the heart of the skin cells for double anti-aging performance:

Repair more rapidly, more intensively:
Totally freed and perfectly rejuvenated, the cells regain a new breath of vitality. By triggering a repairing “shock wave”, they reactivate the youthful dynamic of the skin. The correction of visible signs of aging is amplified with exceptional effectiveness.

On application, the skin appears and feels spectacularly transformed, smoothed and replumped. The complexion lights up and looks even. It recovers the fresh and rosy glow of dense and elastic skin, infused with youthfulness.

Day after day, the skin becomes more and more beautiful. It seems incredibly younger. After four weeks, the results increase in intensity, rapidity and effectiveness. Wrinkles are smoothed away, the skin is firmed and the complexion shows off new radiance.

How I was advised to use it is after cleansing, before toner. The rationale is because this helps clear toxins so you should use it first. Then follow up with regular skincare – no, I don’t use any other Dior skincare for now 🙂 – and after clearing your skin of toxins, your skin should be able to absorb the nutrients from your other skincare better.

A preliminary view is that it seems to be helping to lighten the deep lines at the nasolabial groove or what is more nicely called “laugh lines”. Perhaps I’m imagining it, but my skin seems to be looking  better and feeling more supple overall. I do have some before/after pictures but give me some time to work it through before telling you if its love 😉

I don’t know if I want it to be because of this serum though. It retails for RM360/30ml. I can just hear your yowls of protest. Teehee… 😀

OMG !! Soooo expensive. Any recommendations for below RM200 range which works similar to this product.

I’m still looking for my so called HG skincare. As I have combination skin type with extra dryness on my cheeks, I’m not sure what products/brands to use. Any recommendations ?

I don’t use a lot of serums so I can’t quite say if there’s a cheaper dupe for the Dior One Essential. Personally, I’d spring for the original instead of a dupe because experience tells me that I’d just end up spending more. I have combination-dry skin too so try looking around some of the reviews I have on skincare – my thoughts are based on my skintype 🙂

OMG! Was given a sample of this serum when buying some make up @ dior. This is THE most amazing skin product I’ve ever used (and I’ve tried most from lauder to creme de la mer). I know it sounds expensive …but it’s so much more than a facelift in a bottle. Do yourself the biggest favour and buy some…..or get down to the counter and ask for a sample before spending. You need so little of it. I’m in my 50’s and the difference from the 1st application was noticeable …and just keeps getting better. Using it once a day at night.

I haven’t personally tried this but my mother got a sample at Saks and she says it’s wonderful so I’m considering getting it for her for Christmas. Personally though, I’m a die hard Burt’s Bees addict (I don’t work for the company but my friends make fun of me for always talking about them as if I do). What I love about them is that they use natural products (most of their products are at least 95% natural and a lot are 100%) and they don’t test on animals so if you’re into that then it’s an added bonus. The main thing about them is thattheir stuff works. I bought the evening primrose night cream and used it under my eyes and around my mouth and the lines practically dissapeared and my skin looked a lot fresher; it’s super moisturizing. I can’t say that the lines dissapeared entirely but in all fairness I get about 2-3 hours of sleep a night if I’m lucky so it would take straight up magic (or sleep) to fully erase them. Also their day moisturizer with spf is phenomenal- it doesn’t clog pores yet is moisturizing enough to get rid of the dryness in my cheeks. I’ve also just discovered their pomegranate cranberry sugar scrub- it smells like I imagine heaven would smell like and my skin feels absolutely like silk afterwards. I don’t use it every day of course because too much exfoliation is detrimental. And finally for makeup removal they have a great face wash (I forget the name but it’s not the orange one or the minty one, it comes in a clear plastic bottle with a pump and the wash itself is white) that removes every trace or makeup no matter how stubborn or how much (I model so I’ve had to wash off ridiculous amounts of makeup). Sorry for trolling about another company but I absolutely swear by them. Although I have to admit that everyone’s skin is different but evening primrose cream is a must try in my opinion.

read lots of reviews stating that the product is magical etc etc. So spent 80 pounds on it and been using for about 3 months with absolutely no results.. I have almost not bothered to use it anymore but use it night time only because I feel guilty having spent that money. Nevere again! In my view, the product is no better than so many others in the market which also does nothing. The only good thing is it gets absorbed quickly, so it’s not greasy. I had scars after recent pimple and none of that disappeared after daily application for 3 months. Ths is contrary to other reviews.
