Not quite touched by YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Highlighter pen

November 30, 2009 Paris B 35 Comments

When YSL went on 40% sale at counters in Malaysia, I took the opportunity to pick up the iconic YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch highlighter pen. Its touted as an liquid highlighter with illuminating qualities so it conceals slightly and highlights at one go.

For many, the YSL Touche Eclat highlighter pen is a magic wand that erases imperfections at a touch. For me, I’m wondering what the hype is about.

Yes, its a dinky little tool with brush tip applicator that you can tote around on the go. Good for travel but otherwise nothing too special for me. Also, many fail to mention that its not a twist type clicky pen mechanism. Oh no! YSL, being luxury opts for a push-button clicky system like that of a ball point pen. See that black button at the back of the pen? That’s where you press down.

Now I’d like you to imagine this. You have just slathered on your moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning and then you reach for your YSL Touche Eclat highlighter pen. You click it as you would a ball pen, but that high gloss gold surface slips over and over due to the lotions from your hands. Its frustrating and I dislike it. Also, did I mention the gold body attracts fingerprints better than any fingerprinting tape the CSI use?

Are you willing to give up high heels for your back?

November 29, 2009 Paris B 32 Comments

high_heels

I heard on the radio during the week that recent research shows that of the two sexes, women are more prone to suffering from lower back pain primarily because of wearing high heels.

Personally, I can vouch for this. I used to run around in 3-4 inch heels nearly every work day. They weren’t quite Christian Louboutins though 😉 After a while, I noticed that I had a dull pain in my lower back area and on my knees. When I lowered the height of everyday shoes to 2 inches or slightly less, the pain was alleviated somewhat. I still get twinges now and again if I try to be glam and wear heels that are too high for too long.

High heels (or very high heels) throw your body shape out of whack. Just pay attention the next time you step into your stilettos or high heels. You will notice all of the following:-

  • Body is thrown forward and you have to use your back muscles to pull it back so you stand straight. This puts pressure on your lower back.
  • Toes are pushed forward and squashed
  • Pressure on the knees

Do you notice these? There are even more problems associated with what you wear on your feet than I thought possible. High heels are known to be bad, and I’ve found that flats without support aren’t much better!

Rambling on about Aiken sanitizers, Elianto sales and Fallen Princesses!

November 28, 2009 Paris B 6 Comments

Its a blissfully relaxing  Saturday and I have the 2012 movie lined up this afternoon! Haven’t been to the movies in ages and it has to be a disaster movie – go figure! 😛

Strange Search Query of the week

Oho! Here’s one that’s appeared a few times before “sex toy at Tropicana City Mall” which led them to my most innocent post here. Honest guv’ I wasn’t writing anything risque!

Reminder: Keep hands clean and Stop the H1N1 wave

aiken

We’ve been warned by our Government of a second wave of H1N1 flu that might strike at any time – not the Google Wave 😛 So its not yet time to pack away all those hand sanitizers. Instead, make it a habit to keep a hand sanitizer like the new Aiken hand sanitizer by your side. Dinky enough to fit into your handbag and with a small pricetag of RM3.90 for 50ml you can keep one in every handbag so you are never without teehee… Remember, just because you did not get the flu the first time does not mean you won’t get it the second time round!
