Bobbi Brown Platinum Pink Shimmerbrick is way too shimmery!

May 12, 2009 Paris B 19 Comments

I loved the look of the Bobbi Brown Platinum Pink Shimmerbrick when I first saw pictures. It was so pretty! Then when I was passing a Bobbi Brown counter recently, I checked it out.

Bobbi Brown Platinum Pink Shimmerbrick

The limited edition Platinum Pink Shimmerbrick is indeed pretty. Look at those stripes of colour! It reminded me of Guerlain Meteorites – the same sort of illuminating colours but would they have the same sort of soft diffused illuminating effect that Guerlain Meteorites gives?

Unfortunately the answer is no.

The Platinum Pink shimmerbrick swatches pure white shimmer (shimmer-brick duh! 😛 ) and that’s it. No pink tones to it at all. High shimmer highlighter is what it is. Nice if you don’t have a highlighter and can use a very very light hand to avoid looking oily and greasy. Not nice if you can’t.

If you collect shimmerbricks this one will be up your alley as its limited edition. Otherwise, at RM145 a brick, I’m thinking it’s a little overpriced.

How are you for shimmerbricks? Do you own any?

I own 2 – Bronze and Brownie – and its all I can do to avoid looking like a discoball or greaseball when I use it. Still, I can’t quite give them up yet because when they DO work, they are so pretty! 😛

Stay beautiful

Oh, I’m loving it. It’s my 1st shimmer brick but there’s a long story behind it….hehe!

I swatched it and so not my color! Too silvery. I have a Shimmerbrick that has my name on it! 😀 Just not in my hands yet. Lol. I’ve only tried Apricot on my cheeks and the glow was a little artificial-looking for me. MAC Mineralized Skin Finish gives a more natural glow, in my opinion. I have two of those 🙂

      Hey Connie

Haha… I got frost on my hands which was so disappointing because it looks so pretty! Which shimmerbrick are you getting? I had apricot which looked great on me at the counter but when I tried it at home, I looked like a clown going to a disco. Its gone now LOL…

PB, yess it’s tooo shimmery…too bad huh?
I have the pink quartz, peony, and gold shimmerbrick. PQ and peony are my fave. I can use peony alone w/o any blush. it’s pretty.
the gold one is pwetty for nite. My friend swears for the beige one…:)

Ooh I can imagine the shimmery-ness of this one! I find that pure white shimmers tend to make you look oily vs. a gold/pink/off white shimmer–makes you glow! I have peony, rose, brownie and pink quartz. I love shimmer!!

      Hey Monstro

I think I wanted either Rose or Peony but when I tried it my friend said I looked like I got slapped by someone 😛 So much for honesty eh? hee… You are right about gold/cream shimmer – it imparts a lovely glowy look

I’ve read a lot of raves on Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick but I personally have never tried one. I use MAC MSF for highlights.

i went for the dupes of these, the one that is sold by the body shop!they are similar, but the body shop make it less scary(disco ball on face? that is horror!) now they have come out a new 1, maybe you want to check it out?

      Hey a.min

I remember them – shimmerwaves. I have a couple too and yes they work better than Bobbi Brown shimmerbricks because they don’t leave you looking like a disco ball.
