I wrote previously about a matchy-matchy trend as far as shoes and bags were concerned. Apparently, the present trend is to match shoes and bags.
I attended a dinner recently and actually saw it being put in action. This lady attended the dinner in this outfit. You can see her bag. The colour matches the green on the dress. Her shoes too matched the bag colour to a T.
Honestly, I did not think it looked awful. I suppose it fit her style and she could pull it off. Her cheongsam was actually quite interesting looking. The back was bare so it was a halter-neck style with a mandarin collar. If I had the figure to wear something this figure hugging at her age, I would too!
Flaunt it if you have it eh?

As a vintage clothing wearer, I have found this “matchy-matchy” business with purse, shoes, dress and yes, gloves to be especially popular in the years after WWII to about the middle 60s although you could still find it in the early 70s. It would be pretty funny to go to a woman’s house to purchase clothes and see every outfit as a matched set. I would say it has to do with the sensibilities of that era.
