GSK responds to Panadol scare

July 31, 2007 Paris B 2 Comments

panadol

If you have received an email telling you about how dangerous Panadol is to the liver and kidneys, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) would like to dispel those rumours.

This is a release from GSK’s Medical Director dated March 2007. You may click on the picture to get to the larger picture so you can read it.

I haven’t received those emails myself, but for me, I only take Panadol and even then, only when I need it. Those who know  me will tell you that I don’t take medicine when I can and I hate going to the doctor unless I absolutely have to. Anyway, I guess its reassuring to know that if I do take Panadol, my kidneys and liver aren’t going to shrivel up like raisins. 🙂

Stila: Mandarin Mist collection – limited edition

July 30, 2007 Paris B 2 Comments

Stila Cosmetics specialises in cute girly makeup and I do have a touch of fondness for their makeup line. I like the soft texture of their eyeshadows and the rather more muted yet wearable colours available.

Stila scored a hit with their baked makeup last year – baked eyeshadow trios and blush duos and they look to be repeating their success this year, with the launch of a new fragrance – Mandarin Mist, and a new Mandarin Mist collection to compliment it.

Stila Mandarin Mist collection

Mandarin Mist fragrance – A light, crisp citrus fragrance with notes of mimosa and yuzu fruit. Sounds positively delish!

Mandarin Mist eyeshadow trio: Cool – High shimmer eyeshadow. Light pink, cool taupe and rich brown.

Mandarin Mist eyeshadow trio: Warm – High shimmer eyeshadow. Peach, Warm rose and golden brown. I would be keen on this one.

Mandarin Mist cheek colour duo – Soft peach and rosy bronze blush duo to highlight and contour cheeks.

I called up the Stila counter in 1 Utama and was told that it is not here in Malaysia yet but will be expected maybe in August 2007. This is Stila’s limited edition summer collection so expect it to sell out quickly. Last year’s did. The eyeshadow trios and blush previously retailed for RM120 each, so expect similar or same prices this time.

Review: Skincare: Kanebo Blanchir Make Off Conditioner

July 30, 2007 Paris B 7 Comments

This is the first in my Kanebo Blanchir skincare review series.

Kanebo Blanchir Make off Conditioner

The Blanchir Make Off Conditioner is actually an oil cleanser. Although oil cleansers are usually marketed to those who wear makeup to act as a makeup remover, Kanebo recommends this as the first part of its double-cleansing routine. They recommend that you use this first to clean your face of all inpurities and dirt before using another foaming cleanser.

I’ve used a bunch of cleansing oils before this, but I must say the Blanchir Make off Conditioner takes top points. The texture is clear and liquid unlike some other brands which are more viscous and thicker in texture. There is a light fragrance which I find rather soothing after a long day.

Because it is more liquid, I find that its easier to spread and you actually end up using less. I pump 2 pumps of the oil into my dry hands and spread it all over my face, then rinse it off with warm water while gently massaging my face.

This make off conditioner takes off makeup like a charm and because the texture is light, it doesn’t leave your face feeling sticky as some other oils do. It cleans off easily which is a bonus. I don’t like rubbing my face any more than is necessary and I found other cleansing oils did have a tendency to take a long time to remove.

My skin feels smooth and clean after using this, and you don’t really need another cleanser as is recommended. So, I sometimes don’t use another cleanser as I don’t see the need to. I did not have any reaction to this cleansing oil, unlike Shu Uemura Enriched cleansing oil and DHC Cleansing Oil. I will be reviewing these in due course.

This Make Off Conditioner retails at RM125 for 150ml at all Kanebo counters in department stores. Quite pricey but a bottle can last up to 3 months and I think its worth every dollar.

Pros: Liquid, Rinses off easily, Soothing Smell

Cons: Expensive

[rating:5/5]

M.A.C Cosmetics is not quite for me

July 28, 2007 Paris B

M.A.C Cosmetics is commonly known as just MAC, as in the computer and as in Big Mac. It is a line of cosmetics that has a large following all around the world. To many, to use (or in makeup parlance, wear) MAC is considered having reached the pinnacle of makeup mastery.

I however, do not number among the MAC fans. These are my reasons after the jump.Continue Reading
