Benefit Cosmetics costs too much outside of the USA

July 4, 2007 Paris B 4 Comments

I was reading this article over on Viva Woman about the shocking prices of Benefit Cosmetics that launched recently in Singapore. I found myself nodding sadly in agreement at the shocking prices at our counters.
Unfortunately, I must add that Benefit sold here in Kuala Lumpur (Parkson Grand KLCC, Metrojaya Midvalley Megamall) too carries an inflated price tag. The face blush/powders e.g. Dandelion and Georgia costs RM129 (US$37.92) at our counters but only US$26 in the USA and online.  The silky finish lipsticks my friend raves over costs RM68 (US$19.55) here and US$16 online.

Is it any wonder we have to turn to online shopping? Benefit now offers free international shipping with purchases US$85 and above. So, grab a few friends and combine your orders to save on shipping and on the price per item. With the big differences in prices online and in store, the wait will be worth it, eh? 🙂

Kanebo Lunasol comes to Kuala Lumpur!

July 4, 2007 Paris B 7 Comments

lunasol

I have been waiting for this brand to come to Malaysia for ages! Lunasol is a brand in the Kanebo stable, and used to be available only in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Finally, Lunasol by Kanebo is available in Kuala Lumpur. For now, its exclusively found at the Kanebo counter in Isetan at Lot 10.

They just launched today, 4 July 2007 and they have a great opening offer – An eyeshadow palette with 4 colours and a lipstick for RM180. The eyeshadow palette usually retails for RM160 and the lipstick is usually RM80 so believe me when I tell you the opening special is a steal!

There are only 15 sets available while stocks last. As of this morning, 3 have been sold, so that means there are another 12 more waiting for you.

I bought the Spring 2007 Skin Modelling eyeshadow quad in EX3 (Beige Pink) and a Intellectual lips lipstick in 10 (Pure Pink).

I’ll review them with live pictures once I get to play with them. I like the look of this brand. Their prices are the usual high end prices. They are slightly higher than T’estimo but they have a more “grown-up” look to them compared to T’estimo which seems younger. Stay tuned for reviews!

JSIS young fashion from Korea

July 1, 2007 Paris B 1 Comment

K-Drama and K-Pop seems to have taken over from J-drama and J-pop. K being Korean and J being Japanese. In fact, Korea seems to be the new force in Asia to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. How do you explain a pop sensation like Rain? I mean a name like Rain? Anyway, I digress. The point of it all is the fashion scene of Korea as depicted in the dramas screened on tv.

From what I see, there is much similarity between the Japanese and Korean fashion, especially among the young. The young people are all about being funky and individual. And if you like Korean fashion, take a look at JSIS a brand by two brothers. Their clothes are young and trendy. There is a fun feel to it and I can just see the young here wanting to snap it all up.

Its pricey though. Dresses average about $58 and T-shirts are between $15 to $35. They are cute, I can’t deny that. However, I may be a tad too old for most of the designs. Heh…

The shipping from the site is free above $200 and if you don’t hit that amount, then there’s shipping charges. They send by express courier service though, and it comes in a nice looking box which kind of justifies the shipping costs.
