Oral Skincare Supplements – Imedeen and Estime IBS

March 20, 2007 Paris B

I had a reader email me to ask what I thought about the oral skin supplements – Imedeen and Estime. There are many schools of thought about these oral skincare supplements. Some don’t believe in them. They say taking normal vitamins and supplements are good enough and these are extraneous or that they contain hormones. Others swear by them. I don’t quite subscribe to either theory, but I do take these oral skincare supplements, as introduced to me a couple of years back.

I have tried both brands. I started with Imedeen a couple of years back when they were the only player in the marker. Imedeen is expensive. The Classic one which is cheapest costs about RM200 a box which will last you a month. You take 2 tablets a day.

  • Save

Imedeen is made from a marine extract. It claims to:-

  • Nourish your skin from the inside – all over your body with results visible in 3-6 months
  • Make your skin smoother and softer
  • Improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture
  • Reduce Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Give you clearer younger looking complexion

You can read more about it on their website if you look it up online. The previous site seems to have disappeared.

I had been taking it regularly for a couple of years and then slacked off and took it intermittantly. You are supposed to take it continuously for 3-6 months before any effects can be noticed, and after that if you slack off a little, its ok. I must say I did notice that my skin did feel more supple and firm while I was taking it. My skin too did not give me much problems and the pigmentation on my cheeks appeared to be lighter and there was a glow/bloom to my skin. I have also tried the Plus version where you only take 1 tablet a day. The effects were much better but it is also a lot more expensive at over RM200 a box.

It was at this point that I thought to switch over to Estime as its slightly cheaper at about RM160 or so a box. It too lasts a month. You pop a large capsule a day.

  • Save

Estime, according to their website is an internal beauty system. They claim to:-

  • have internal sunscreen
  • nourish the skin
  • repair and reduce microscars
  • strengthen the skin against free radicals and UV radiation
  • results in smoother, firmer, more youthful and radiant skin

I took it for a spell. However, I found that my skin did not react well to this brand. I started having some skin issues (which I cleared up later with the apple cider vinegar toner) and I found that my skin felt less supple and firm. My pigmentation on my cheeks too were more prominent.

Both brands are from Switzerland and claim to be safe and scientifically proven. Imedeen contains a marine extract, so those who are allergic to seafood or marine foods should be more careful if you are considering taking this. Both brands too must be kept in the fridge or kept chilled in a cool dark place or their properties may be damaged or diminished. This makes it a pain when you travel, which is when I usually slack off.

In conclusion, having tried both brands, I’ll go back to Imedeen once I finish off my box of Estime tablets. Imedeen seems to work better for me, so I’ll stick with what works. There are lots of glowing testimonials to both brands, so I guess each will work for different people. For me, I guess my skin just likes expensive items!

Disclaimer: This is my personal review based on what I have tried for myself. It may or may not work for you so don’t come flaming me if it doesn’t work for you.

Update: This post was from 2007 and is now closed to comments. I no longer take oral skincare supplements and have not noticed anything untoward happening to my skin since stopping. I also have not noticed any detriment. I understand Estime cannot be found anymore. If you are wondering where to get it, please check with the pharmacies. As far as I’m aware, Imedeen is still available at most major pharmacies

I would say these things work, as long as you take them. The problem is sometimes we cannot sustain, either in terms of
perservance or cost. I took Imedeem when it was first launched years ago. But I wouldn’t say the results were fantastic.
I also took Plush and after a couple of boxes, gave up. Now I just take flaxseed supp. Cheaper and I think more
    beneficial.

Thanks for the tip about flaxseed Sesame! I’ve been lazy too and I tend to agree that keeping it up is hard. I’m more dedicated to taking evening primrose oil than this to be honest lol

Whoa ladies, it has crossed my mind to take one of these but I have been skeptical about the claims. Maybe I should give it a try… I still believe that exercise, eating the right foods, ample rest, positive attitudes all play a big part to keep young. Thanks for the review, PB.

OK, that’s it, after your good review of Imedeen, I think I will try it. Hehehe, to payback for the late nights writing paid reviews.

Doris: I fully agree with you about how to keep young. Genetics play a part too I believe

Lilian: Hehe… with your paid reviews you can afford to take la! At least get something back!

Hey, good review you got there. Have you heard of Pynocare? It has the following claims :-

“PYNOCARE with MSCC Complex Actisome is the first and only natural oral depigmentation solution. It effectively repairs and strengthens the skin from the inside out, visibly reducing the size and intensity of skin pigmentation.

PYNOCARE contains powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is 50 times more potent than Vitamin C & E.

PYNOCARE’s natural and safe formulation has also been clinically proven to reduce the size and intensity of pigmentation spots on the face. PYNOCARE treats skin pigmentation at its roots.”

I don’t know if it’s as effective as Imedeen or not, is there any user of this product that can post some comment or reviews here?
    Thanks!

Yes. Pynocare really works. I can vouch for that. I could see results after taking 3 boxes of 10 day-supply each and after continuous use for 6 months not only pigmentation on my face but on my body faded 80%. Unfortunately, this product is not available in my country for whatever reason for which I can only think of is the fact that it’s quite expensive and new to the market as compared to Imedeen.

    Hi Cheryl

Thanks for visiting! I don’t know about Pynocare but I’ll post up a query. Maybe someone can help you! 🙂

I have read about the brushes you use in your previous blog and I would like to ask if you have used the body shop mini brush kit before. Unlike other brush kits that has flimsy and scratchy brushes, The Body shop mini brush kits actually feels like the original versions! It is a really good deal. It costs around $20++ singapore dollars. It contains four brushes, the blush brush, eyeshadow brush, the slanted brush and the lip brush. However, I do find the blush brush a little too small. But hey, it’s much better than the brush I get when I buy my Revlon powder blush.

Vampyress: Thanks for visiting. I haven’t used The Body Shop mini brush kit, but I own a Body Shop eyeshadow and blush brush. Its great quality for the price and for animal lovers, its synthetic. The kit sounds like a great deal especially for travelling! Thanks for the tip.

I had a question. I am average looking, considered attractive. But, I have very dry skin. In fact during winter I sometimes scratch to blood, between my fingers and other places. I put quite strong moisturiser, none seem to work. Thats why I started Imedeen. But then, I felt guilty of spending so much… My hubby is dreaming of buying a house soon…Hence now I take one imedeen a week… Is that enough? My skin does feel less dry…

oops what I meant was I take one imedeen a day!!!!!! Got that? One Imedeen a day. Is that enough?

Girls! Even I know Imedeen is expensive, but it’s something you do “for yourself”! It’s impossible to turn back the clock, always better to “maintain”, right? Don’t wanna feel regret and have the common phrase : “I should have done that before “.
Personally I’m take Imedeen coz my mum took it when it first launch back 10 years something ago after her cancer operation and changed of her hormone due to chemotherapy, it’s hard for her to maintain as she felt so sick of taking “tablets”–chemo, drugs, etc…
I’m taking Imedeen right now, can’t see much difference by myself, but people always amazed everytimes when know my real age. That’s the reason I’m still keep taking it eventhough it’s expensive to do so.
    hehe

    Hi,
I’ve also taken both brands starting off with Imedeen but I never noticed any ‘glowing’ effects until I switched to Estime which actually worked wonders for my complexion. Unfortunately, I have been looking for it for the last six months and it’s as if Estime has just disappeared from the shelves and I’m wondering if anyone else noticed. I’m doomed if the product doesn’t come back coz I relied so much on it. I’ve been forced to return to Imedeen but my skin looks dull and lacklustre lately and I don’t want to spend any money on a product that doesn’t work for me.

I’m with ya…Estime really worked well for my skin and plumped it up. I had less zits and my skin was tight. Somehow it seems to have disappeared without explanation and I was forced to go back to Imedeen which doesn’t work as well on my skin and very costly. Does anyone know if the company closed down or went bust or was the product banned by the government? It’s not even available in Singapore.

Hi all, I am one who suffers from skin pigmentation or rather discoloration. I have been hunting up and down for depigmentation product either to be used externally or internally for ages. I have heard about Pynocare but havent tried it yet. However, there is one product that I trust, the name is Progene. I have been taking it and have yet to see results. I have seen my friends who have taken longer period then me, they do look different now. Flawless, fairer and more radiant skin. I believe my continuance with the product will be helpful. I have seen a slight reduction on my pigmentation. So I guess it is at work.

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
