La Compagnie de Provence or LCDP is a luxury line of bath and body products originating from Marseille, France. You didn’t think the name sounded French to be pretentious did you? 😛
I was sent the samples of the liquid soap, body lotion and hand cream in Fig of Provence to try out. Figs aren’t my favourite fruit, I’m sad to say, but the scent (if any) isn’t strong. In fact, I hardly detected any scent.
The Marseille liquid soap (Savon de Marseille sounds so much more romantic!) is LCDP’s original product. Apparently its still made the traditional way – in a cauldron. Can you just see a hag with a wart on the end of her hooked nose cackling as she stirs the soap in the cauldron? Sorry its probably just me then – the word “cauldron” conjures up that image every time.
I found the liquid soap a little strange. Its very very liquid – almost like water. And it doesn’t bubble up much, and because its so liquid, I spilled a lot of it in the shower. What a waste! It did make my skin feel a little tight after my shower though. Not quite RM103/500ml nice which is a pity.
So, I followed on with the body milk – Lait Corporel Extra Pur Figue. Very nice and very light, sinking right into my skin with no greasiness or stickiness or ickiness. Skin felt smooth and lovely. I’m currently sleeping on satin sheets so ooh yeah… luxury! 😉 At RM157/500ml its pretty luxurious too!
