Your Say: Do you wear Heels or Flats when you drive? Do you change your shoes for driving or walking?

March 4, 2012 Paris B 85 Comments

do you wear heels or shoes when you drive?

When I was a kid, I used to go to school with a classmate of mine whose mother would drop us off in the mornings or afternoons, depending on which session I was in. For some reason, her mother stuck in my mind because when we got into the car, she would immediately remove her heels shoes and switch to a pair of flats or slippers that she kept in her car for this purpose.

When I got older, I asked her why she did this, and she said it was because she could not drive in heels. In fact, she would sometimes drive bare-footed! When I picked up driving, the first thing I told myself was that I wouldn’t do this. I would train myself to drive in whatever shoes I was wearing at that time. And I have 🙂

The downside of course, is that my heels have the tell-tale wear of a woman driver. The base of the heel rubs off and wears off quite quickly. It is no wonder that Tod’s has something called driving shoes. The sole folds up the back of the heel so when you rest your foot on the mat, you don’t get that wear on the heel of your shoes. I would love to own a pair 😛

I have also noticed sometimes that some people switch their shoes after leaving the office, either to flats or to a more comfortable pair of shoes. Do you do the same thing?

Scrumptious Saturday Vol. 2 : Some sweet and sour scrumptiousness

March 3, 2012 Paris B 11 Comments

I love dining out and whilst I enjoy going to restaurants and cafes, my heart (and stomach) truly lies with the hearty fare of the “dai chao” no-frills roadside or coffeeshop based eating places that dish up single serve meals or dishes quickly, deliciously and cheaply. A general crowd favourite is  sweet and sour meat (“ku lo yuk”) and when I do feel like eating it, this is the one I go for.

Feast your eyes on one of the best sweet and sour pork (“ku lo yuk”) I’ve had this side of KL.

sweet sour pork

Drat. I just made myself hungry reliving this dish that I ate over the week 🙂 There’s also something else that’s sweet after the jump that I think will appeal to many 😉

New! Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF15/PA++ Liquid Foundation

March 2, 2012 Paris B 26 Comments

I am a big big fan of Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (or previously known as Derma White Clinical Brightening Serum) So big, I have a bottle on standby in case I run out as I’m wont to do any day now. I credit this Even Better serum for helping restore the clarity to my skin after recent events and I’m quite happy to stick to it. But I digress… because today, I’m here to tell you that Clinique has a new Even Better Makeup … which is liquid foundation! 😀

Actually, its new here in Malaysia and you can expect to see it on counters starting March 2012… which is now! 😀 I believe our friends overseas have already got access to the Clinique Even Better Makeup liquid foundation for a while. This product is a light to medium coverage liquid foundation that not only acts as a foundation, but also as skincare to take care of dark spots and imperfections in skin tone, with regular use. Being a big fan of the skincare already, naturally the makeup piqued my interest 😉

Estée Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Cream : A brightening moisture cream that’s so brilliant I use it in the day too!

March 1, 2012 Paris B 21 Comments

I don’t know if you notice this thing about whitening skincare, if you use it, but most whitening skincare used over a period of time, tends to make the skin feel dry. I’ve tried a few brands and ranges in my time and it’s all the same. Use up one batch, and although the results are good, my skin would tend to feel dry and I’d have to switch to a hydrating regime. I attribute it to the ingredients they use for whitening or brightening.

However, I have to tell you how pleased I am to have used a whitening cream that not only does a decent job, it does not dry out my skin at all. The cream in question is the (draws deep breath) Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Creme – whew! What a mouthful! 😛

In fact, my skin loves this one strangely enough, because its by Estée Lauder! I say strange, because I didn’t think much of the rest of the Cyberwhite range. Just being honest here! So this cream is the only one in the range I’d use and which I turned to recently to cure a dull skin problem.
