Estée Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Cream : A brightening moisture cream that’s so brilliant I use it in the day too!

March 1, 2012 Paris B 21 Comments

I don’t know if you notice this thing about whitening skincare, if you use it, but most whitening skincare used over a period of time, tends to make the skin feel dry. I’ve tried a few brands and ranges in my time and it’s all the same. Use up one batch, and although the results are good, my skin would tend to feel dry and I’d have to switch to a hydrating regime. I attribute it to the ingredients they use for whitening or brightening.

However, I have to tell you how pleased I am to have used a whitening cream that not only does a decent job, it does not dry out my skin at all. The cream in question is the (draws deep breath) Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Creme – whew! What a mouthful! 😛

In fact, my skin loves this one strangely enough, because its by Estée Lauder! I say strange, because I didn’t think much of the rest of the Cyberwhite range. Just being honest here! So this cream is the only one in the range I’d use and which I turned to recently to cure a dull skin problem.

I actually started using this when it as known as the Estée Lauder Cyberwhite EX Extra Brightening Rich Moisture Cream. I was going through a dry skin phase and the words “rich moisture cream” leapt out at me. After I used it for about 2 weeks, without using any other whitening product, I did notice that my skin seemed brighter and smoother.

Importantly though, my skin felt plumped up and moist. I was using it in the day too and it never felt oily or heavy. It just kept my skin nice and moist all day and I liked that. I used it on and off after that. But as is wont to happen, the Cyberwhite range was revamped, and must to my horror, I realized that the cream I liked is no longer available! Yes, gasp! horrors! and all that.

It instead has been changed to this new Brilliant Cells Night Cream. Don’t you hate it when brands do that to you?

Still, I had high hopes for it and from what I can tell, theres been no change in the formula, for which my skin is thankful because I’m planning to stick with this one a little while. Like its predecessor, the skin brightening properties are quite apparent with regular use and I used this in conjunction with a couple of whitening serums to restore the condition of my skin after a disastrous experiment recently that left me looking jaundiced.

Although its labelled a night cream, I use it in the day too. Ooh what a rebel I am to be sure 😛 The previous version did not state specifically its for use at night and as the texture was similar I felt there was no harm in using it in the day too. I didn’t self-combust so I guess it’s safe 😛 There is also a regular day cream version for those who are less adventurous.

Granted, I have sightly dry skin which might explain why this one works for me quite well so I don’t know if oily skinned gals will like this one, but I do and I think its very good for what it does and promises.

In a nutshell

The Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Creme is a cream which maybe more suited for those with drier skin. The skin brightening properties are quite effective with regular use and I noticed results after as little as a weeks use. My skin feels plumper and more moist with a velvety touch. I also use this in the day sometimes and it isn’t too oily or heavy even with sunscreen and makeup on top. If anything, it seems to help my skin retain its moisture in the day.

Pros: Does what it promises to brighten skin with regular use, Rich texture but not too heavy or oily and absorbs into my skin quite quickly, Light scent is quite comforting, Nice packaging, Skin feels smooth and velvety with prolonged use

Cons: May be more suitable for those with drier skin

There’s one thing I liked about the change – the packaging. I think the new tub looks so much more sophisticated compared to the plasticky, rather old fashioned look of the previous one. The gunmetal grey and black colour scheme too is different and eye catching and just very modern and edgy. I like! 😀

Have you tried the Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Cells Night Full Spectrum Brightening Moisture Creme or its previous incarnation? If you use or have used whitening skincare, do you find that it tends to leave your skin feeling a bit dry? I always feel that way but I think the newer versions from the different brands are starting to address this by adding more moisture ingredients which is of course, great! 🙂

OMG… I NEEEEED to have this!! You know how I love my whitening stuff! 😉 Does this contain alcohol?

Yes, I do notice that whitening products tend to dry out the skin after prolonged use. Thats why I always compliment them with a hydrating serum or mask! 🙂

HAHA Yes I do know indeed you and your whitening stuff 😀 I don’t have the ingredient list because I tossed the box without taking a picture. I don’t know why I did it 🙁 So I’m really sorry but I don’t know if it contains alcohol. I usually use a hydrating serum with whitening products too but its nice not to have to 😉

My guess would be they renamed it night cause there’s no SPF? 😀
And another reason to convince us to get 2 separate day-night creams instead of just the one haha

Haha well the original version had no SPF either I don’t think 🙂 But yes, there is always that age old debate about whether we actually need a day and night cream but I guess we just use whatever makes our skin feel comfortable 🙂

So this is your secret to your luminous, supple skin! I tried the older versions at night because it doesn’t suit my daytime oily skin (nightime oily skin – no problem. I sleep alone haha) and so far it’s been very ho-hum. Glad that this one works for you!

I like my whitening serums but maybe it’s my combination skin, it doesn’t really dry me out that much. Also, maybe it is also because I use hydrating mask at least once a week? I haven’t tried the Cyberwhite range except for the sunscreen but love Estee Lauder’s Hydrationist for moisturiser. For my skin, I notice that if I use anything too rich, it does break me out. Would you believe even a rich toner could break me out? That sucked big time!

I find the drying effects less apparent if just using one or two whitening products e.g. just a serum or just a cream but when the whole line is used, I’ve felt like a mummy 😛 A hydrating serum and mask does help a lot too. Oh snap! I like the Hydrationist too but the serum. Its really nice for the skin and I don’t think a rich toner is the trick sometimes. For me, the tipping point will be the layering process that helps more than just using one very strong product – but its just me 🙂

Self combust, ahahaha!! Don’t know about Estee Lauder, not tried anything from them, but I agree with the packaging looking nice. Most whitening products come in white or blue bottles, this is different. I’m still using my Murad’s whitening thingie, so far I can see my freckles on my right cheek lightening up but my left cheek still looks the same. . . And I drive with the sun on my right side O_o

Like vampires, you know? 😉 Whoa that is a bit strange that your freckles are behaving that way but maybe they are working, just that its very slowly?

It does look a bit like the Repairwear line, now that you mention it. Not too surprising, since they are sister companies 😉

hm i use whitening stuff together with hydrating ones, so they never left my skin feeling drier/ tighter than normal 🙂

but yeah, like you pointed out, most whitening skincare now are more hydrating/ moisturizing, which greatly help in reducing using even more items on the face. more wallet friendly too! 😛

I used to do a whitening + hydrating system too. Still do in fact, because I think having hydrated skin helps with the whitening effects 🙂

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
