Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mist – High Standard to Live up to

July 8, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Hada Labo recently expanded their Super Hyaluronic Acid range locally and one of the new items is this Moisturizing Mist. It generated a lot of interest when I first showed it to you and I’ve been using it since then.

Granted, its not a month, as I give all skincare, but I thought it was alright to tell you how I feel about it now. I’ve run out of the SHA Moisturizing Lotion so I thought I’d use this as a substitute.

  • Save

First off, I don’t recommend it as a substitute to the SHA Moisturizing Lotion. It does not give the same sort of effect to my skin. It spritzes out a very fine mist on the skin and then, I pat it in. It absorbs quickly, but for some reason, makes my skin feel a little dry. No bouncy feel like that the lotion gives me. I guess its not meant to be a substitute, but more of a complement. I guess also the SHA Moisturizing Lotion has just raised the expectation bar for Hada Labo products for me!

A plus point is that because the mist is so fine, it helps set makeup very well, and when spritzed over makeup during the day, it doesn’t muss up your hard work. Because its small (just 40ml) its very portable and here’s the deal – you can take it on board planes without problems because its flies under the 100ml limit and is non aerosol!

Unlike the thermal sprays I have been using, the moisturizing mist does not quite feel as cool or cooling on my skin. So, spritzing it during the day does not seem to help cool down my skin like the Vichy Thermal Water would.

On the other hand, spritzing it in an air-conditioned environment helps my skin feel a little better – not so tight and dry. I usually spritz, leave for a little while and then gently blot with a piece of tissue paper. Its nice this way.

But does it fare better than thermal water? I don’t think so. I don’t quite know what to make of this facial mist. Its not quite love for me, sadly. I think I better get that replacement bottle of the SHA Moisturizing Lotion – stat!

Pros: Very fine mist does not leave skin too wet, Helps keep skin moisturized in dry air, Very good size for travel and to carry on airplanes

Cons: Pricey, Does not cool down skin

Oh its RM30.90/40ml which I personally find pricey. If you use it as your lotion, it’ll finish up quickly. But if you travel a lot by plane, you might like this one – its very portable, airplane friendly and has no scent to irritate your and your seat passenger’s nose in the confines of an airplane. Also, if you travel to countries where the air is dry or you are in an air-conditioned environment all the time, you might appreciate it more.

Over here in Malaysia where its hot and humid all the time, I prefer to use a facial mist that helps cool down my skin as well.

Its new on the shelves, but have you tried this one? 🙂

That’s too bad 🙁 It looked really interesting. So it’s a thermal water replacement but doesn’t perform as well? Will give it a miss.

Would like to thank you for recommending the Hada Labo range as I picked up the AHA/BHA cleanser and am really loving it.

I wouldn’t call it a replacement. Its more like a hydration boost that you can carry around with you but since I’m a little lazy, I don’t use such things as often as I should 😛 Glad you’re liking the AHA/BHA cleanser. I found it a little drying 🙂

Yup me too. This could be a bit of a dupe for the Shu Uemura water thing though…

You’re welcome and although this isn’t quite thermal water, it does perform similar functions hence my ambivalent feeling 😛

Hmm… I’ll KIV it as something that’s nice to have but pricey. Btw, I just started using the SHA ‘toing-toing’ lotion (because of all you gals) and I have to say I like the effects, but not the sticky part. Hahahaha… 😛

Hm… it shouldn’t be sticky. If you keep patting at it, and once it absorbs it loses the sticky feel. For me anyway 😀

I used it too and i have no idea whats all the excitement all about. The adv look very promising but i dont find it superior to any other ‘lotion’. It just didnt work for me. Prefer Kanebo freshal C range better. This is just so sticky and its hard to apply anything after that

Was it the moisturizing lotion or the mist that you tried? I still like the lotion – it doesn’t stay sticky if you pat it in long enough (till it stops being sticky) Its one of those things where not following the instructions doesn’t deliver what it promises 🙂 I guess its popular because it does work for the majority and its pretty affordable 🙂

On hot day, I use facial mist to clean/get rid of oil. Just like you, I will spray and blot away with a tissue paper, face felt less shiy after that. I think by bloating, it does sweep away some dirt on top of the skin…..;-D

I absolutely love this mist! I have been using it as a “lotion” sometimes along with the cream (another new found love) and they have helped save my skin from being a flaky mess.

Glad to know that Lyn! I haven’t tried the cream yet I’m thinking of doing so soon – all these late nights and air conditioning are NOT helping my skin 😛

Have yet to try anything other than the moisturising milk from Hada Labo. Won’t buy it here, ‘cos the prices of Hada Labo are comparable to high end brands ($40-$50 for the lotion). But will add to my M’sian shopping list 😛

Um.. Excuse me, but where did you bought the Vichy Thermal Water in Malaysia? Can they be found in Watsons and Guardian. I’m trying to find a good and effective moisturizing mist.

Vichy is available at most major pharmacies but not for very long. For a face mist, you can try Avene which I hear is very good.

The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of each other 😁 Kiddo turns 4 and celebrated with specially made doggy burgers & fries.

I got him in early Jan 2020 so he’s only been with me less than 4 years but it’s been incredible to see how he’s grown (or not), and how he’s slowly mellowed with age (or not!). He’s still that crazy rambunctious puppy who terrorises other dogs, begging them to play and barking at them when they don’t. He’s a greedy fella who makes me think I’m the greatest chef in the world (in the dog world maybe!) and he still gets crazy eyes when excited.

But I’ve also found more white hair around his eyes and he sleeps in more and later now. He doesn’t even get up early enough to jump onto the bed as he used to 😔

4 years is practically adulthood in doggy years and I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to spend lots of time together even if I bemoan having to bring him everywhere I go.

Happy 4 years boy ❤️
