Dior Cristal Boreal for Holiday 2009

September 30, 2009 Paris B 14 Comments

dior-cristal boreal

Dior’s offering for Holiday 2009 or as I’d like to call it Christmas 2009 is a sweet delicate affair in purples, lilacs, pastels and sparkling in Swarovski crystals!

Eye, lip and nail colours come in shades of purple and lilac which would tempt many a fair lady who loves these shades. 😉 I’m not overly enamoured at this point in time but I’ll be fair and form a better opinion after I’ve actually seen it. I must say that I’m strangely taken by that purple nail colour – don’t ask me why!

As for Dior’s star product, it is a lip gloss pendant studded with swarovski crystals. Open it and you get lipgloss inside. Hang it round your neck after you’re done with the gloss, for an eye catching piece of limited edition jewelry. 😀

The limited edition Dior Cristal Boreal pendant will come in a black Dior gift box and will retail at RM220 here in Malaysia or US$60 in the USA. I cannot wait to see it in person! 🙂

Update: Collection will be available from November 2009 in Malaysia *fingers crossed*

Stay beautiful,

Stage Cosmetics Trio Traveller Brush Set passes the travel test

September 30, 2009 Paris B 20 Comments

I’ll be honest, I was not and still am not super impressed by Stage Cosmetics makeup brushes. But I’m always more forgiving when it comes to travel sized brushes or brush sets because no brand I know makes wonderful travel sized brushes that rival the quality of the full sized brushes. They are all lacking something…

So, when I found that I was going to be doing a bit of travel and needed to travel light, I put the Stage Cosmetics Trio Traveller brush set to the test. I already own a few travel sized brush sets but in every set I own, there are either so many brushes in there to make the pouch a tad bulky and I only ever end up using one or two brushes (Momo Minerals) or the pouches and brushes are too large – see Shu Uemura.

The Stage Trio Traveller comes in a very slim compact case with just 3 brushes – face/blush brush, and 2 eye brushes. What I liked about this set was the face/blush brush. It is soft on the skin and firm enough to double up for powder and blush which is great for travelling light – just make sure you clean it off on a piece of tissue after using blush. October’s Winning Ways!

october

Whenever October comes round every year, I wind down, step back and think about things. Its a personal thing.

October is also the time when seasons change, when leaves start turning red and gold in Autumn (which I think is a prettier name for the season than Fall) and when the air takes on a decided chill. Well, not here in Malaysia anyway … but it makes me contemplative nonetheless. Finding a stray white hair certainly added to the contemplative atmosphere!

So to amp things up this October, I’m going to run a series of giveaways, for the fun of it. Who knows, it might just be the last set of giveaways I’d run for the year!

Tip: Wash your face last after your shower

September 29, 2009 Paris B 55 Comments

shower

Most of us take a shower in the evening after work and before bed, and this is when we wash our faces for the 2nd time in the day. For those who use makeup, it is also the time you clean off your makeup and allow your skin to breathe.

I have a suggestion for you to try – wash your face last, after or at the end of your shower. I do this and I wonder if anyone else does? 🙂

My reason for doing so is because I start off my evening shower by washing my hair. After washing and conditioning, I realise that the hair products will run down my face together with the water. I’m not so hardworking as to lean backwards or to lean forwards to drain the water away from the face to avoid this.

So, washing my face only after I wash my hair i.e. towards the end of my shower makes sense to clean off any residue of shampoo and conditioner that might have gotten on my skin. Its also a way to help counter facial acne caused by shampoo or conditioner. If you have sensitive skin washing your face after washing your hair might be something to try.
