They say Cleopatra had skin as smooth as silk and as white as magnolia because she used to bathe in milk. If anything can give me skin as smooth as silk and white as magnolia, I’m not complaining! 😛 But milk is a little hard to bathe in right? So, I picked up the Milk series of shower gel, body scrub and body lotion from H2O+ recently. They are sold separately, but I picked up the Milk Trio gift box or trial pack for RM69.
There were 3 items in the gift pack – Milk Shower Gel, Milk Body Scrub and Milk Body Lotion.
My first reaction – “It doesn’t smell like milk” which can be taken any way you wish. In fact, it has quite a strong fragrance that takes some getting used to. By common consensus with Kahani, it was agreed that it smells like Johnson & Johnson Baby Milk Bath.
In the gift pack I purchased, the products come in 60ml tubes. Very useful for travel. If you buy the product individually, the Milk series of products come in a bottle resembling a milk bottle – uber cute.
H2O+ Milk Shower Gel
The shower gel is said to contain milk proteins and vitamins, and also moisturising ingredients in the form of Vitamin A and E. It lathers up very nicely but I felt I had to use quite a lot in order to get clean. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry which is of course good.

H2O+ Milk Body Scrub
The Milk Body Scrub contains very fine granules which is nice as it doesn’t hurt your skin. My skin did feel nice and smooth after using the body scrub although every scrub makes it feel that way since that’s what a body scrub is supposed to do. I do find myself using quite a lot of product – it might be because the granules are small so you need more product to get the effect. Stil, its nice even if the scent is a little strong for me.

H20+ Milk Body Lotion
I find the body lotion a little thicker than a lotion. It is halfway to being a cream in my view. Not that its not nice because you only have to use very little. Used after a shower on damp skin, the lotion soaked in quite quickly and left my skin feeling soft. I have also used it just for my hands in a dry air-conditioned office and it works well to moisturise my hands too. I’m not sure how the milk protein and vitamins can help the skin in the long run, but in the short term, its working pretty well. I actually like that its in a small tube because it makes it easy to carry around. When body lotions come in bottles, I tend to forget to use them.

Overview of H2O+ Milk (link)
I like the idea of milk proteins helping to soften and nourish our skin. If it worked for Cleopatra it should work for us right? So, I can imagine that using these milk products in the long term would go a long way towards achieving the magnolia skin look.
However, I have a gripe about the smell. When I first smelt it, I wasn’t too fussed but now, I find it too strong and powdery. If it was just smelling like milk it might be fine, but it smells instead a little chemical which I don’t like much. So, my advise is to go to the H2O+ store and smell it for yourself. In the alternative I reckon Johnson & Johnson Baby Milk Bath is a cheaper substitute 🙂
I’m keeping the remainder of the products for my next travel destination. The sizes are plane friendly and it will be nice to come back to a nice milk shower after a long hot day.
