Review: Makeup: Benefit Dandelion Face powder blush

I’d heard a lot about Benefit Cosmetics’ Dandelion all over face powder for a while. However, reviews were mixed about it.

Most people felt that it was too light and did not show up on their skin at all. Some of these complaints were even from girls with very light colouring, so I was rather reluctant to try it. After all, it costs RM129 here in Malaysia.

However, I managed to snag one from the USA for US$28 and thought to give it a shot. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the result.

Dandelion is supposed to be an all over face brightening powder as opposed to a blush. However, as the colour does come out rather pink I don’t think its really advisable to use it as an all over powder.

In the pan, the blush is a light pink with slight purple tone. On skin, it is a very light pink but don’t bother trying it on the back of your hand – doesn’t show up. The colour is sheer but that is good because you are less prone to make mistakes. You can layer it on for more colour where you want it or just have a barely there hint of colour. I use about 2-3 layers and I’m very impressed at the illusion of an inner glow radiating from the cheeks. Its a very natural look and very sweet and pretty. Its no wonder that Geekchic loves this one so!

I use this one on days when I’m rushed for time in the mornings and cannot afford a mistake. Or, I use it when I want a sweet innocent “no-makeup” look. It gives a cute pinky glow unlike Georgia which gives me outright radiance.

Like Georgia, I can see this working for lighter skinned girls but less so if you are tanned or darker skinned. The powder blush comes in a rather large square pan in a sturdy cardboard box and a brush. As the blush is set rather deep in the box, I don’t really like the packaging. I prefer packagings where the blush sits higher as it makes it easier to swirl colour on the brush.

Another thing that bugs me rather is the smell. There is a very sweet smell when you open the box. However, the smell doesn’t stay on the skin. Still, it can be uncomfortable for those who don’t like fragrance. Get it online at Benefit Cosmetics for US$28.

Pros: Sheer, Glowy look

Cons: Quite pricey, Cardboard packaging doesn’t last

Wheee!!you blogged on my favourite must-have makeup item! Actually, I don’t quite mind the paper box. I could recycle it and well, despite all my travelling, the box is rather sturdy. Glad you liked the colour 🙂 I’m planning on trying Georgia next.

    Robinsons in The Gardens too.

And, I htink it’s cheaper to get it online. Without all the pesky sales assistants who know crap.

Definitely cheaper to get it online but it’ll take a combination of few chiqs to get free international shipping ($100)

I’m glad to see a Malaysian reviewing this. I use Dandelion to layer on Posietint to pop the colour more for evenings. Or I’d just wear it alone for subtle day-time wear. LOVE IT!

I definitely agree that buying online is cheaper. I visit the counters to test-drive the colours I want before buying online. *evil laugh*

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
