Your skincare routine begins when you cleanse: 8 Cleansers I love that I buy over and over and why a good cleanser is important

selection of facial cleansers

In the past, when I first started having some interest in skincare, I came across a quote by someone that said “Spend on what you leave on and save on what you wash off” It was something of that ilk.

Essentially, the idea was that when we were balancing our budget for skincare, we should spend more on products like serums and creams, to get the best possible quality since we were leaving it on our skin; and we could save on a product like cleansers, because we’d just be washing them off.

I thought it made sense, so it was something I practised for a while. I’d buy cleansers from the pharmacy, and I’d not consider spending too much money on them. Something that was foamy and cleaned my skin was sufficient, never mind what special ingredients might be in it, because I was going to wash it off anyway.

Much later, I realised that I was wrong about this.

Enjoying 16 years and settling into the comfortable groove of a space to call home

16 years blog

If this blog is a child, at 16 years, it would be now a young adult, and quite possibly making the questionable decisions that all young adults make, while testing the boundaries of adulthood. Everyone at 16 years old thinks they know everything, that they can conquer the world, and that no one understands them LOL 😛

It struck me a week ago that my blog anniversary had once again, passed me by without my noticing. I checked back, and for the first time in 16 years, I failed last year to commemorate the day this blog was born. There was absolutely no record, and I don’t even know if I remembered it belatedly. What a travesty!

While I’m over a month late, I had to put a note to celebrate this milestone, for being on this ride for so long 🙂

It’s not too late in the year to try the super affordable Kinbor A5 Planner that I absolutely love using

kinbor a5 planner review

A few years ago, after much experimentation, I hit on a planner system that worked for me. It was loosely based on the bullet journal that was very popular then, but which did not work for me. I was actively using planners from Moleskine and Leuchtturm 1917 then, which were pretty pricey.

I use a planner primarily for work and various engagements, so in the last few years, when things were quieter, I fell out of using one.

This year, life has somewhat returned to normal and in early January, I found myself needing a new planner. As luck would have it, I was unable to find any from Moleskine or Leuchtturm 1917 in the market. I guess I was just too late to the party, because most 2023 planners were out of stock by then.

When I lamented about this sad state on Instagram, someone sicced me onto a Kinbor planner. I was intrigued, primarily because it was so affordable! I mean, we’re talking just under RM30 for what looked to be a decent planner with lots of space for to-do lists, appointments and notes.

It’s been about 2 months since I started using the Kinbor planner, and I have to say that it’s a nice one that I’d recommend to anyone looking for an affordable but effective planner 🙂

Has your makeup preferences changed post-pandemic? I’m rekindling my enjoyment for wearing makeup

January 30, 2023 Paris B 12 Comments

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, when we were forced to stay indoors, I’d ditched any semblance of wearing makeup. Why bother, when you won’t be going out, or wearing a mask. It felt like a waste of time and effort (and in many ways, it was).

When restrictions lifted and life began going back to normal, I still balked at wearing makeup. My lifestyle had changed. I was spending more times outdoors, less time being social, and wearing masks all the time. This hasn’t changed in over 3 years, and realistically I don’t expect it to change very much going forward.

But over the last few months, I’ve had the occasion to put on some makeup for social events, and I have to say that I’ve actually found it fun! 😀
