I’m going to ask you to trust me on this one – Go and get yourself a Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip. Just trust me, you’ll love it!

I do. I love mine to itty bitty bits. It’s not even a crush. It’s a full-blown love affair!

I think, if I hadn’t already fallen in love with the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour, I might have overlooked this new release a few months ago. But in love with the Crushed Lip Colour I am, so when the liquid version was launched, I hot-footed it down to the nearest counter to have a look.

I also promptly went home with 2 shades (because they are quite affordable) and have been enjoying them ever since. I was on the verge of blogging about it, when as fate would have it, all the shades landed on my desk! You should have seen the grin that split my face from ear to ear 😀

It also meant I had to get down to work! 😛

Travel Skincare Tip: Keeping up appearances on holiday or How to ace your base in low humidity

I know many of you travel, and cooler climes are always a favourite destination, to escape from our infernal tropical heat and humidity. But how often do you travel somewhere cool, and then find that your skincare isn’t holding up, or that your skin starts to flake and dry out and break out? Worst of all, this happens even after you return home!

Not only is it uncomfortable, your makeup doesn’t look good whether in person or in holiday snaps.

Well, I most recently went on such a holiday.

It was cold and windy, and the humidity was laughably in single digits. I knew my skin would suffer. So I made the necessary preparations, and I can happily report that after a week, the skin on my body was dry and itchy as heck! But the skin on my face was not only comfortable and near perfect, my makeup went on well and looked so natural and amazing too! Yes, I’m preening LOL! 😀

So here’s some tips you should keep in mind when you travel from the hot and humid tropics to a cool, low humidity destination, and the products that helped me.

How I came about trying (and loving – spoiler!) the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color turned out to be via a rather circuitous route.

When it was first launched a year or two back, I initially looked at it, and then dismissed it as yet another balm-lipstick. Don’t get me wrong. I love balm-type lipsticks, but there are only so many I can have in my collection.

Then, I met a few people who raved about the Crushed Lip Color to me. Suddenly, the feeling of FOMO rose in me. I needed to find out what it was about these lipsticks that had these ladies raving about them.

One day, I stopped by the boutique, and the rest as they say, is history! 😀

Pucker up pillowy soft lips after treating with the Mamonde lip sleeping mask

It often surprises people to know that lip balm does not feature high on my list of must-have beauty items. “But you’re a beauty blogger!” They cry. To which my answer is “Yes I am, so I’m more discerning”

Unless I’m in a cold, dry climate, I never wear lip balm in the day. I personally believe that regular use creates dependency, but that’s just me.

That said, I do take care of my lips – I just do it at night. Like with hand cream.

I usually slick a layer of Lucas Papaw Ointment on my lips every night before bed. That’s my regular lip treatment – it’s affordable and lasts me years if I buy the large tub. That said, I have been informed that it’s increasingly hard to find locally, not that I know why.

A while ago, I discovered the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and that had proven to be a favourite lip treatment. In fact, I never ever leave home without it – hotel rooms, airplanes etc have notoriously dry air. Sometimes, I use it just to give my lips a treat, and I wake up with soft, smooth, flake-free lips.

So, when I came across the Mamonde Lip Sleeping Mask, I was intrigued enough to have a go.
