Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream is a must have for those with dry skin (and I don’t say that lightly!)

March 29, 2023 Paris B 5 Comments

dr. jart ceramidin cream in a tube

I suppose you could say I’m late to trying Dr. Jart+, which is known to be a Korean skincare brand. But did you know that it’s presently owned by the Estee Lauder Group of Companies? 😀

I remember when, back in the day, they were well regarded for their BB Cream and sheet masks. A friend gave me some samples of the BB Cream to try, which I did find very impressive, but never got around to buying or using. Ditto their skincare. It was always there, on the edge of my consciousness, but never really making its way into my shopping basket and onto my vanity.

I think it’s because it arrived on the cusp of the K-beauty wave, and a lot of K-beauty was very affordable. Dr. Jart wasn’t what I’d call ‘affordable’, so I did overlook it.

All that changed with the iconic Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream recently.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 revisited : Is it a facial in a bottle?

March 15, 2023 Paris B 7 Comments

biologique recherche lotion p50 review

Over 7 years ago, I came across the iconic Biologique Recherche Lotion P50, and as luck would have it, a work event found me in Paris, where I hunted down their flagship store on Ave. Champs Elysees and picked up a bottle.

At the time, I was a Lotion P50 virgin, so they would only sell me Lotion P50W, the entry level version of this acid toner to the stars. I shared my thoughts about it then, and long story short, I loved it.

Thereafter, when I knew of friends travelling to Europe or the UK, I’d pop in my request to please bring me back a bottle of Lotion P50. Well, not any longer, because we now have our very own Ambassade Biologique Recherche at Starhill Gallery, that mirrors the flagship store in Paris!

Well, I’ve been there, so I can say that it does, on a much smaller scale. But it’s all there – the quiet elegance, the range of products available, and the luxurious treatments.

Having used Lotion P50 in various iterations over the years, I still find myself returning to the version without any alphabets. Just plain Lotion P50, and I always have a bottle on hand for when I want to use an acid toner. It’s opportune then to revisit this iconic product, and to share about it with a whole new generation who can now easily get it locally 🙂

This Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser is one of the better cream cleansers I’ve ever used

March 13, 2023 Paris B 6 Comments

mad hippie cream cleanser

I love using cream cleanser, which are great for most types of skin except for the very oily or blemish-prone. I only wish I’d not been so reluctant to try them earlier.

I generally use a gentle cream cleanser in my morning cleanse, because I don’t need any serious cleansing. While I understand there are people who choose to not use a cleanser in the morning at all, I still do, as I use fairly heavy skincare products in my nighttime routine, and I want to clean it off properly before doing my daytime routine. Besides, skin just feels fresher after a good cleanse right? 😛

Mad Hippie is a brand I’ve used for a while, and the Cream Cleanser is actually my 2nd bottle. I run through cleansers fairly quickly, and I regularly cycle back to my favourites. This is one of them.

Might this Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 Serum by Caroline Hirons be the best Vitamin A serum I’ve ever used?

March 6, 2023 Paris B 10 Comments

skin rocks retinoid 2 serum

Few skincare afficionados would be unaware of THE skincare guru, Caroline Hirons. I have been following her and her blog for many years, and her advise and product recommendations have often been spot on, and practical.

I do have a little quibble with her early takes on sunscreen, but she has since taken a more conventional approach to recommend that we wear sunscreen daily, not just in Summer.

So, when Caroline Hirons launched a product under her Skin Rocks brand, I sat up and took notice. Any product she releases should be something to be reckoned with.

And it is.

The first product in the Skin Rocks range is their Retinoid, which comes in 2 variations – Retinoid 1 and Retinoid 2. On launch day, I logged in and snagged a bottle of my very own. I just HAD to see if it is, or will be, one of the best retinoid serums in the market! 😀
