This is going to be a strange thing to say, but these Kotex Wow sanitary pads landed on my desk right in the nick of time to trial! Ahem. TMI? 😛 I mean these aren’t things you can just trial off the bat – there is a time and occasion for everything, as they say 😛

So, sanitary pads. How exciting can they be? Very, if Kotex would have you believe it. Here’s a funny story about Kotex, I thought I’d share before I tell you about these new pads.

When I was in school, my teacher told us that she got her son to go to the local store to help pick up a box of Kotex for her. The young boy jumped on his bike and cycled off, yelling “Kotex! Kotex” at the top of his lungs so he wouldn’t forget! Needless to say the whole neighbourhood knew what he was off to the stores for.

Yes, Kotex has been around for a long long time. But I’ve never used them, interestingly enough.

But to move with the times, Kotex has gone and given the ol’ neglected pads a high fashion design ostensibly for the fashion forward female. I do have 2 questions as to why this would be necessary.

First. Sanitary pads aren’t something you’d flaunt, nor is it something you’d wear to make you feel good or sexy, like sexy pretty lingerie. Most times, if you have to use a sanitary pad, you feel… for want of a better word, like crap! You’re bloated, you’re cramping, you have mood swings and you just feel awful. My mood and PMS symptoms weren’t alleviated by the pretty looking designs on the pads, I’m sorry to confess.

Second. By the time you use the sanitary pad, and its time to discard it, you aren’t about to go gawk at the design… or what’s visible of it. You also aren’t likely to invite people to look at it (gag!) You just want it as far away from your body as possible.

So, from a personal view point, I cannot see how a sanitary pad with designs is a good idea. However all that said, I have never used Kotex sanitary pads before this so this is also a quick review of the Kotex Luxe Ultrathin Sanitary Pads instead.
