Good morning Ladies!

Let’s help out reader Soo Chin with her question (because I can’t!):-

Does it matter what brand of facial oil blotting paper that is used? I was told some blotting papers cause more harm to the face ie. excreting more oil, rougher skin. Granted, ZA’s blotting sheets are smoother while those like Guardian’s are rougher. Should I start switching to better quality ones? Your opinion will be very much appreciated.

This was the email I received from Soo Chin and I could not help her because I don’t use blotting papers. Is that a horrified gasp I hear? 🙂 I share my thoughts below and I’m inviting you to share yours on this matter.

I don’t use oil blotters because I don’t get very oily throughout the day so I usually find that patting a piece of tissue paper over my skin (not rubbing) suffices to get rid of any extra oil on my skin. When I did use oil blotters before, I used to use the ones by Clean & Clear – they worked well and were inexpensive. I’d also used some by Shiseido (which I bought during a sale) and I had a pack by Kose Esprique Precious and they worked about the same.

Personally, I never quite saw or noticed much difference between the brands of oil blotting sheets 😛 I recall reading somewhere that using oil blotters might cause the skin to excete more oil – true or not? I can’t say.

But if you are a regular user of oil blotters, you might notice a difference enough to help Soo Chin.

So come on readers! Marshall up your thoughts on this.

Is there a difference in the brand of oil blotting papers used and does it matter what type you use? Will the oil blotters cause you to get oilier or harm your skin?
