I know I said I did not want the Ecotools brush set that everyone raves over, but I did want to try at least 1 Ecotools brush since so many people love it! So, when Makeup Masala (store closed) was having a sale on Ecotools brushes, I jumped at the opportunity! Incidentally you can get Ecotools brushes in Malaysia now.

Ecotools Blush Brush is soft dense and worth the money

I got the Ecotools Blush Brush simply because my MAC 219SE is on its last legs. Its scratching my cheeks to bits everytime I use it! The Ecotools blush brush is lovely and fluffy yet dense and firm enough for blush application. It reminded me of the blush brush from The Body Shop but with a denser head.

It picks up colour well and applies nicely to the cheeks and the synthetic bristles are soft yet firm. Due to its long handle, I only use it at home, and because the handle is made of bamboo, its light. I prefer brushes with a bit of heft to it, but its ok – you get used to it. 🙂

I’m happy with the blush brush – its become my everyday blush brush for now, working well with both light and strong coloured brushes but more so for lighter colours – it picks up colour well so even blushes like Benefit’s Dandelion show up.

I got mine for about RM27 – US$7.75 or so but its retailing in Malaysia for RM45 which I found expensive by comparison to its online prices. If you want an inexpensive blush brush that works, I suppose RM45 is still an ok price to pay but US$7.75 is a way better price to pay! 😉

Ecotools Retractable Kabuki Brush is portable and useful

The other brush I got was the Ecotools Retractable Kabuki brush which is a bit of a misnomer as I found when I received it. I have a reason for getting this. I was at an event with Kahani and when we were stumped for brushes to use at the casual event, she whipped out her retractable kabuki (not sure if its the same one) and proceeded to use it for powder. No need to dabble with dinky little brushes that come in compacts or gunky sponge pads. Ok that got me! We are all terrible for each other but at least we know we’ll get stuff that are good and work! 😉

Anyway, the reason I say its a misnomer is because it does not retract per se, but you slide up the silver part to cover the brush head so you can cover it. I guess it could be called retractable to a degree.

The brush is super soft and dense enough though not as dense as the Lumiere Kabuki brush. The head is softly rounded and it picks up a decent amount of powder for the face and blush for the cheeks. Perfect travel tool if you want something inexpensive and portable. However not quite something I’d use daily if I have other brushes on hand.

I got mine online for US$10 (RM38) and I don’t know how much they are retailing for here or if they have it here.

Ecotools brushes are available in Malaysia and Online

So on an overall basis, I guess I’m happy with both the full size brushes I got. They do live up to their hype and they are relatively inexpensive by any standards. I still won’t get the brush set though 😛

For us here in Malaysia, you can now find Ecotools brushes at Shins (thanks to sleuths Plue and Prettybeautiful) but at the prices they’re asking for, I’d say go check it out in person, but if you’re not in a hurry, buy them online – its cheaper and makes it more worth the money.

Do you own any Ecotools brushes and if you do, what are your thoughts on them?

Stay beautiful,

Paris B

I know I said I did not want the Ecotools brush set that everyone raves over, but I did want to try at least 1 Ecotools brush since so many people love it! So, when Makeup Masala (store closed) was having a sale on Ecotools brushes, I jumped at the opportunity! Incidentally you can get Ecotools

Shipping from Makeup Mix Shop cost about US$3+ (she ships internationally) and it took slightly under 10 days to get to me from the USA. I’m happy with the brushes and the service so if you ask me, I’d get any other Ecotools brushes from there because I’m not impatient 🙂 </del>It appears the store is closed.
