Do you even care to learn?

I’d been wrestling with computer problems for the past 2 days, and to be honest, cannot be arsed to do any editing of photo-heavy posts so the next instalment of the Chanel Collection Libre has to wait. Instead, I had been having an on-going discussion with someone on the subject of facial massage, and I thought it was interesting to throw out the question to you.

Do you do your own facial massage? Say, daily or maybe weekly? Is it something you care about or something you are particularly interested in? Is it something you’d rather just let someone handle? Tell me 😀

I always come across this topic of facial massage, be it in beauty magazines or online. The benefits touted are usually firmer, more relaxed skin, attributed to better blood circulation in your skin, if you do it often.

In some ways, I guess it makes sense. Better blood circulation encourages better skin health, and the Asians have been doing it for centuries, the Japanese in particular. I’d come across facial massage techniques from Japanese years before it became a buzzword in the beauty scene.

As for whether I do a facial massage, I hesitate to say yes because I don’t really do it as a massage in a true sense. Does that make sense? LOL! 😀

I have to say that I never used to do my own facial massage. I did go for very regular facials, when I had a regular salon to visit (which is no longer in operation) and during those monthly facials, I’d always receive a lovely facial massage. Did I notice any benefits? I can’t tell. But I wasn’t paying attention, truthfully speaking. I just enjoy massages in general, and having a facial massage just felt good.

When I started using skincare that was heavier in texture e.g. cleansing balms and facial oils and creams, I would employ a little “massage” to get the product to absorb a little better and more effectively into my skin. What I mean by “massage” is not in any true sense a massage, but quite literally just using my finger tips or palms, to rub the products into my skin, with a little pressure.

I also learned some tips from Clarins for a type of facial massage, to be used together with their signature Sculpting Facial Lift serum. But truth to tell, I could not keep up with it because of the time needed.

A proper facial massage, even if short, can take up to 6-10 minutes, and I never used to have that sort of time nor energy at the end of the day. Now that I do, I still can’t be arsed LOL! 😀 I have however, learned some tips from the Clarins trainer, who taught us to PRESS products into your skin, and to put firm pressure on your skin when applying skincare. So, that’s what I usually do.

I apply my skincare, massage my oils into my skin, and then PRESS with my palms firmly on my face. And I’m done. But to employ a proper facial massage, pressing the various acupuncture points on your face, I’d just leave it to the experts 😛 I never know if I’m doing it right, or if I might be using too much pressure and therefore dragging my skin and maybe even giving me more lines than I should have. Sometimes, I feel a little knowledge is a dangerous thing 😛

But how about you?

So, I can’t be bothered to learn how to perform my own facial massages nor do I care to read about or watch these techniques. I just know I won’t put them in practice, so really, it’s just a waste of my time. If I want a facial massage, I book myself a facial 😛

Paris B

I’d been wrestling with computer problems for the past 2 days, and to be honest, cannot be arsed to do any editing of photo-heavy posts so the next instalment of the Chanel Collection Libre has to wait.
