<\/p>\nLipstick, like blush and foundation, is a bit of a weakness of mine. I love checking out new formulations on offer, although I’ve learned since that I much prefer solid lipsticks, and I like certain textures better than others. It allows me to not make costly errors the way I used to before!<\/p>\n

When I started out using lipstick, I preferred the lighter, moisturising balm-textured lipsticks. I still like them, but these days, I find myself busting out the creamy, opaque textured ones more. They last longer on lips, they aren’t too glossy, but they aren’t flat and matte either. They are, in the words of Goldilocks, just right! \ud83d\ude00 I call them my adult lipsticks – good for adulting \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n
As many of you know, my tastes in makeup tend to run to the higher end brands, so after playing the field, here are 5 creamy lipsticks worth splurging on!\u00a0<\/strong>\ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I’ll link to the individual reviews of the lipsticks, so you can read more if you want, or see what they look like when worn. Do note that while red dominates as a shade (it’s one I wear often) I’m not picking out any shade in particular. My focus is on the particular brand and texture. So here we are, in no particular order \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n Why it’s worth the splurge:\u00a0<\/strong>The hefty metal packaging with the handy flip up mirror in the lid is a God-send. I used to make fun of it, but since I found myself caught out without a mirror, I’ve grown to appreciate it. This is one of the most useful lipsticks to carry in a tiny clutch for touch-ups because of the handy mirror, and naturally, because of how beautiful it looks!<\/p>\n The texture is creamy yet stays in place for hours, going on practically opaque in 1 swipe.\u00a0It feels comfortable on lips without drying it out, bleeding or feathering, and the intensity of the colours are flattering for all ages, without being garish. The major drawback is the scent which is rather strong, but I forgive it even that.<\/p>\n Estee Lauder hit the spot when they revamped the Pure Color range to the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick. The packaging is solid and sleek yet simple, and for the quality, the price isn’t as eye-watering as other high-end brands.<\/p>\n Why it’s worth the splurge:<\/strong>\u00a0These Pure Color Envy lipsticks glide on lips like butter! The pigment is intense, with a nice range of shades to suit almost everyone. The colours last long without wearing off unevenly, and they do not dry out my lips one bit. It’s lightweight and comfortable and a beautiful way to ease into the world of creamy lipsticks, or even red lipsticks for that matter! The packaging could look a little plain, and the magnetic cover can fall off in your bag if you’re not careful. But texture-wise, it’s sublime.<\/p>\n Creamy, oh so creamy! That describes best the luxurious texture of the Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color lipsticks. It was after I tested these and fell in love, that I had the idea to do this little compilation!<\/p>\n Why it’s worth the splurge:<\/strong>\u00a0The texture, hands down, is one of the creamiest I’ve come across, yet stays put on lips. Creamy lipsticks sometimes travel a little or bleed or feather, but these don’t. They just glide on, going on opaque with 1 swipe, and stay put as long as you want them to. I can wear them through meals with little wear! They don’t wear unevenly, nor do they leave the dreaded ring around the lips. The range of colours is very impressive, and while I’m not so crazy about the bling gold packaging, I’m in LOVE with the texture. I need more, and I don’t say this lightly! The price isn’t too eye-watering either, which is why I kicked off with the Guerlain LOL! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n Swatches of the 5 creamy lipsticks I’ve featured. All made with just 1 swipe of the bullet down my arm. The intensity, opacity and creaminess is sublime and that’s why these 5 creamy lipsticks are worth splurging on!<\/em><\/p>\n I don’t have the latest price hence pricing it at RM100+ When it was first launched, they were RM95 but that was 2 years ago, and prices have gone up since. It seems that after the initial frenzy, when everyone and their mother was blogging and Instagramming about the NARS Audacious, people seem to have forgotten about them. Is that the case? Haha Let me remind you then!<\/p>\n Why it’s worth the splurge:<\/strong> The colours. That’s a good enough reason to check out the NARS Audacious lipsticks because the colours on offer are very impressive. The packaging too deserves mention, as it’s sleek, magnetic and importantly NOT rubbery. Ugh, NARS, change your dumb packaging! The texture of the lipstick is creamy and opaque, but compared to many other creamy lipsticks, tend to be a little drier, so some people do find these rather drying. They are also a semi-matte texture compared to the others featured here, but they don’t dry my lips the way matte lipsticks do, and they stay on without wearing off unevenly. That’s very important when you’re wearing a bold shade of lipstick!<\/p>\n When I found myself wearing this almost daily, and toting it about in my bag, I knew it was a keeper, and I knew I’d found a grown-up lipstick to love! While still pricey, unlike many Givenchy products, this is still within a manageable price-range, and the leather packaging is quite something!<\/p>\n Why it’s worth the splurge:<\/strong>\u00a0How many lipsticks out there wear studs and leather? None I warrant, except the Givenchy le Rouge! I love the tactile feel of the leather cover, but then I love the feel of leather. The lipstick is beautifully creamy and opaque, yet I find it tends to set a little semi-matte satin on my lips. It isn’t drying and stays put well, which is important for me. I don’t like my lipsticks fading without my realising, which is very unflattering. This doesn’t. It took me a little while to warm up to this one, but I’m now in love with it. I have to be, it practically LIVES in my bag! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n Don’t make me choose, because there’s a reason I picked these 5. They are a splurge, and one or two of them might deal your wallet a serious dent, but I promise you that they are all worth it, if you like, or want to try a creamy textured lipstick. You know, for those times when you need to feel like a grown-up \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n But if you make me choose, I’d actually do either the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy<\/strong> or Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color<\/strong> first, because they have no scent, and have a lovely creamy texture and a good range of shades to pick from. They are also the more affordable of the 5 featured.<\/p>\n If you just got a promotion or a raise or want to buy something to celebrate, then go for the Guerlain Rouge G<\/strong>\u00a0because the price is so eye-watering, it’s not something you can plop down cash for any day. The Givenchy le Rouge<\/strong> and NARS Audacious<\/strong> would be for those who prefer a less glossy, creamy lip but yet want something opaque and long-lasting. Both of these have a semi-matte, satin texture\u00a0that stay put better without travelling.<\/p>\n Before anyone asks, I’d like to mention Tom Ford<\/strong> and Burberry,<\/strong> 2 more high-end brands that have creamy lipsticks that I’ve tried. However, they do not make my cut because after owning 2 Tom Ford lipsticks, I’m not as impressed with them as I should be. The colours are beautiful and so is the texture, but I feel that for the price (US$52), there’s little more going for it, so in that price category I’d pick Guerlain Rouge G. As for Burberry, I believe they’ve recently revamped their lipstick range which I haven’t tried. However, I had a very poor experience where I found their lipstick going off and turning bad within 6 months<\/a> and that was just not on. So, I’m biased against Burberry unless I’m proven wrong in future (I’m unlikely to ever purchase another).<\/p>\n I don’t profess to having experienced all the creamy lipsticks out there, so if you have one that you love, please let me know so I can go out and sample it! Do note that the local price is the last known price that I have from about 6 months back. I believe it’s gone up now, and quite possibly breached the RM200 mark, which is a mind-blowing amount of money to spend on one lipstick.<\/del> I checked the price in store. Holy mother of…. It’s RM229 now, up from RM195 when I bought my last one.
