<\/p>\nYou know what really sucks? When you own something that you really like and finally get around to taking pictures so you can blog and tell the world just how much you absolutely freaking love this thing…. only to find out it has been discontinued.<\/p>\n
What. The. Flying…. Fish!<\/p>\n
But you know what? I’d already taken my pictures and I found a new version that is close enough so I will tell you about it anyway, because I damn bloody love this blush…. even if it costs the earth.<\/p>\n

This offending product is the By Terry Terrybly blush<\/strong> in the shade #2 Erotic Pink<\/strong>. Did I buy it for the name? Hmm… what d’ya think? \ud83d\ude00 But actually no, I did not. I found that the shades were a bit deep and Erotic Pink was one of the lightest and pinkest, so since this colour works for me, I went with it.<\/p>\n The blush line was refurbished last year (tsk!) to appparently be even better and softer and more luminous on skin, and it is now called the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Blush<\/strong> and there is a sort of similar shade in there called #5 Sexy Pink. It does look a little more baby pink than this so don’t take my word for it.<\/p>\n So why am I going to bang on about this discontinued product you ask? Well, because I do like it a lot, and because I’m quite sure you might be able to still find it floating around if you want it, perhaps even on sale (you’re an intrepid lot, you’ll find it!) and because I wanted to tell you if a\u00a0\u00a352 blush is worth the splurge. Yes my friends, I see your cringe and I raise you a grimace!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Last week, we talked about $90 lipsticks <\/a>and the common consensus was that most of us will not make that splurge on makeup. Yet, I have splurged\u00a0on a very pricey makeup item, with this\u00a0\u00a352 blush.<\/p>\n Ok perhaps not really\u00a0\u00a352 because I did buy this on sale. But still, it retails for\u00a0\u00a352 and the new Terrybly Densiliss blush also retails for\u00a0\u00a352.<\/p>\n Price aside, what I liked about this blush is the luminous colour it imparts to the skin. Erotic Pink is a slightly warmed pink and while the surface of the blush feels a little hard, a brush tends to pick up quite a lot of colour. It is also quite pigmented going on the skin so despite my going at this blush for almost a year, off and on, you may notice how relatively untouched it looks. This is because I literally just touch my brush to the surface and then blend it out on cheeks.<\/p>\n On skin, the blush gives you a very soft, transparent colour that melds with the skin. It is almost like as if you are wearing a cream blush – it moves with your skin not just sit on top of it the way a lot of powder blushes do and it isn’t the least bit powdery. And best of all, it lasts. I wear it in the morning and by evening, I still have a flush of colour on my skin.<\/p>\n This is an approximation of how it looks when I wear it. The reason I show you is because I’ve gone and pawed at the new Densiliss blush and it has a similar sort of effect on skin. I do find that the Densiliss blush is a little more pigmented and is softer in texture, so if you prefer something stronger then you may prefer the newer version.<\/p>\n Either way, you don’t really need a lot of product to get a lovely glow to the skin.<\/p>\n But is it worth\u00a0\u00a352? That’s a heck lot of money by any standards, I believe. And my answer is… it’s complicated LOL! \ud83d\ude00 Let’s just say that if you are a blush fiend and\u00a0\u00a352 won’t put you in the poor house, or you wait for a discount code (I usually wait for the discount codes on SpaceNK <\/a>before picking up pricier items) then the By Terry blushes are worth owning at least one. I surprised myself just how often I’d use this, and how much I liked it. But because I find the shades a little tricky, you will only likely ever end up with just 1 anyway.<\/p>\n But the reality is that many of us can put\u00a0\u00a352 to better use, in which case, we’d sigh over it wistfully, look longingly at it and then put it back on the shelf.<\/p>\n But what about the quality? Isn’t that at least worth\u00a0\u00a352? In a manner of speaking, yes it is worth more than your average powder blush. I find the texture much smoother and finer, the pigment is denser and it is easy to blend and to meld with the skin. If you only pick up a little product, and then use a soft blush brush and buff it into your skin, that little pigment will almost “fuse” with your skin so it looks very natural and transparent and elegant.<\/p>\n If you have drier skin, you may have a problem with powder blushes looking… for want of a better word “powdery” on your skin. This is the reason so many women with drier skin opt for cream blushes. But this doesn’t. Even if my skin feels drier than usual, it still melds with my skin and never ever looks powdery.\u00a0In that sense, I feel that people with more mature skin will appreciate the luxurious texture of this blush more; and the fact is that these are probably the women who can afford luxury makeup anyway. So the issue of price is rather moot \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n Oh and I have to mention the packaging because I love how HEFTY it is! The metal case comes with a brush (that I don’t use) and sits inside a luxurious purple satin pouch. I keep it in there. Keeps the case from scratching, and it looks pretty \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n IN A NUTSHELL<\/strong><\/p>\n The By Terry Terrybly blush in Erotic Pink as pictured here has been discontinued, but there is a new version called the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss blush which feels similar albeit supposed to be an improvement. The packaging is elegant and luxurious and hefty, and it comes packaged with a brush and housed in a satin pouch. The product itself (both versions that I’ve tested) feel soft yet pigmented and the product blend and melds into the skin without once ever looking powdery or cakey or chalky. It is easy to buff and blend, and it is perfect for dry skinned ladies who might otherwise have a problem with powder blushes. However, the high price is rather prohibitive for most, and this will appeal best to someone more used to, or willing to splurge on a luxury brand.<\/p>\n PROS:<\/strong>\u00a0Luxurious packaging, Pigmented, Easy to blend, Long lasting, Blends well into skin (even dry skin) and does not look chalky or powdery, Transparent pigments make the product look very natural when worn<\/p>\n CONS:<\/strong>\u00a0Very Expensive<\/p>\n WHO WILL LIKE THIS:<\/strong> Someone who is comfortable with the high price, Someone who wants a powder blush that blends well into the skin without looking powdery<\/p><\/blockquote>\n I recently picked up some of the very popular By Terry cream eyeshadow sticks – Ombre Blackstar, I think that’s what they’re called?
