<\/p>\nYou know what, I could tell you that I’d always loved Bobbi Brown lipsticks, but I’d be lying through my teeth. Me? I’ve always been\u00a0a bright lippie girl and Bobbi just didn’t do it for me with her safe, neutral shades for makeup. I need my lipsticks bright and IN YOUR FACE! \ud83d\ude00 So, when someone like me hears about\u00a0a “Crazy for Color” lip color collection, I gave it a little side-eye. Come on, Bobbi, colour?<\/p>\n

Bobbi Brown Lip Color Top: Sandwash Peach, Bottom: Hot Berry<\/em><\/p>\n Yes, friends. Colour – finally! \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n To add a little life and colour to the existing range of Bobbi Brown Lip Color lipsticks, there are 27 new shades of lipstick including some lovely brights and bold shades because not all of us like creamy neutrals, agree?<\/p>\n Bobbi Brown Lip Color<\/strong> lipsticks are their original formula lipstick that offers colour with a semi-matte finish. If you prefer lighter, more balmy textures, this isn’t the lipstick you’d go for. This, I almost hesitate to say, has a slightly old-fashioned lipstick texture. A little waxy, opaque and has a slight “lipstick” scent. The packaging too offers a little old-world luxury feel – gold tubes paired with black casing.<\/p>\n I have 2 colours, Sandwash Peach and Hot Berry, a nude and a bold shade, so I’ll just show you how they look and you can tell me which looks better k? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I do quite like the creamy feeling of the lipsticks. I have been wearing a lot of creamy colours lately from different brands which surprises me somewhat, because I usually go for lighter textures. But I realised that when it comes to lip colour, if you want a colour that will stay on for longer and look more vibrant, you do need something more creamy.<\/p>\n In tube, Sandwash Peach<\/strong> looks like a straight, warm peach. It’s a colour I’d never voluntarily pick because it’s a colour I’d never voluntarily wear! I am a little concerned wearing peach on my lips because it can unintentionally wash me out and make me look a little sallow.<\/p>\n Hot Berry<\/strong> is in tube, a bright berry pink.\u00a0It has a rather obvious blue based tone but has flashes of metallic tint that makes me pause. I don’t mind shimmer in lipstick, but anything with a more metallic slant has a terribly aging effect and the last thing I need is for anything to age me more \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n Hot Berry and Sandwash Peach sawtched on arm in sunlight<\/em><\/p>\n Swatched on my arm, Hot Berry takes on a significant fuchsia tone, losing a lot of the berry that I see in the tube while Sandwash Peach appears to be a straight orangey-peach shade. The texture of the lipstick is creamy, but when new, it can feel a little dry so it can skip a little on the skin. Once you wear it down, it applies more smoothly, and is fairly opaque.<\/p>\n On lips, Sandwash Peach again looks different. It’s a shade I highly recommend that you test on your lips because it doesn’t quite look as intense as it does in the tube, nor as orange as it does on my arm. Clearly you don’t wear lipstick on your arms, so try to get it tested directly on your lips at the Bobbi Brown counter (they can\u00a0offer a quick makeover service if you ask nicely \ud83d\ude09 ) On my lips, Sandwash Peach has a creamy texture without shimmer or a lot of shine. It isn’t fully matte, but it doesn’t reflect a lot of light either.<\/p>\n Hot Berry on lips is a bright berry with a hint of metallic shine on my lips so that does make me pause a little. It is a lovely colour though, and you can see how the blue base of the lipstick makes teeth look a little whiter – that’s a neat trick! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n I personally think Hot Berry is the colour for me, but then that’s always true of a lot of bright, bold lip colours. It brightens up my complexion and makes me look more vibrant and alive. But I was pleasantly surprised to note that Sandwash Peach didn’t wash me out the way I expected it to. It’s a colour that’s a little more “safe” and perhaps one to pair with stronger eye or cheek makeup. With Hot Berry, I can just put on my brows, a touch of cheek colour and head out the door.<\/p>\n However, I can’t in all honesty count Bobbi Brown Lip Colors among my favourite lipsticks. There’s just something about them that doesn’t quite grab me. The colours are lovely but not terribly unique, and the texture is nice, but not terribly special. I’d grab them if I were going somewhere casual, but it’s not a lipstick I’d miss, if you know what I mean.<\/p>\n IN A NUTSHELL<\/strong><\/p>\n Bobbi Brown releases 27 new colours in their classic Lip Color lipstick range. The new shades have a bolder, brighter and more playful vibe as compared to the relatively safe offerings from Bobbi Brown before this. The texture is creamy and comfortable and I don’t find them drying but I’d not call them moisturising either. The colour stays on fairly long and are opaque in one or two swipes. I like the new colour offerings because I like colour but there’s something about the texture that doesn’t worm its way into my heart.
