When searching for the Best Concealer Brush you really should think outside the box

July 18, 2018 Paris B 20 Comments

A while ago, I shared with you a tip on the best way to apply concealer for a lovely diffused and natural finish. I don’t know if anyone is still practising it, but I still am, and it still amazes me to this day, how effortless it is and looks.

The next question that naturally arose was what is the best concealer brush to use?

best concealer brush

I’ve been meddling around for a while since, trying to figure out which makeup brush I favoured for applying concealer, and I think I have finally found the best ones.

Do note that I will share with you the best SHAPES you should look out for, because there are many different brands of brushes out there, and you can use this guideline to find one within your budget. You may have realised by now, that my tastes run into champagne territory, not iced tea 😛Continue Reading

I’ve finally worked out how to wear bronzer and it shows you can teach an old dog new tricks!

February 22, 2017 Paris B 23 Comments

When I started out on my makeup journey, the first thing that eluded me was eye makeup. It still does, so I keep it very simple. Sometimes, that’s best. Then, the next thing to elude me was bronzer. That still does.

I picked up numerous tips over the years (this one’s the most helpful!) but in reality, I was deluded. The heavily contoured, chiselled look didn’t appeal to me, and I always looked like I’d fallen face first into dirt every time I tried wearing bronzer.

tips for wearing bronzer

Recently however, I decided to give it another go. I mean, it’s makeup. If I didn’t like it, I’d just clean it and start over right? 🙂 In the process, I not only started to get the hang of wearing bronzer, I taught myself a few very easy tips that I’ll quickly share with you, in the hope it’ll help whoever’s bronzer-challenged like me 🙂

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 3: Brushes I use for Blush

January 13, 2017 Paris B 6 Comments

I hope you’ve found the Makeup Brush Collective Part 1 and Part 2 helpful or at least enjoyable! In Part 3, and the final part, I show you the brushes I use most often and the types of brushes I use for cheeks. While in this category there’s usually reference to bronzer, blush and highlighter, I only really use blush the most often. So, I’ll only show you that. I don’t use bronzer, and highlighter is used only sparingly.

The Makeup Brush Collective: Brushes I use for blush

Blush is a weakness of mine, and you’d think that this would be the category where I own or use the most brushes. Well, you’d be wrong actually, because I’d actually worked out quite quickly what worked and what didn’t for me, and what sort of brush I preferred! Also, I’m not very experimental when it comes with blush LOL!

Don’t forget, you have to tell me what your favourite blush brushes are too! 😀

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 2 : Brushes I use for Eye Makeup

January 11, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

We follow on from Part 1 of the Brush Collective (where I showed you my preferred brushes for face makeup) and head to the brushes I use for eye makeup. This is rather lengthy, as there is a lot for me to show you! Not because I’m showing off, but because I use different types of brushes for different applications and there are different brushes in each category.

makeup brushes for eye makeup

I was never good at applying eye makeup. I actually started out using my fingers (which I still use in a pinch especially with cream eyeshadow sticks). Over the years however, with a lot of experimentation, I’d worked out the type of brushes I liked to use for a specific purpose, simply to make my life easier. I’m no professional makeup artist and I’m not even very good at doing eye makeup, so if you’re just like me, then these suggestions may help you get that one step closer to better looking eyeshadow application 🙂

The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of each other 😁 Kiddo turns 4 and celebrated with specially made doggy burgers & fries.

I got him in early Jan 2020 so he’s only been with me less than 4 years but it’s been incredible to see how he’s grown (or not), and how he’s slowly mellowed with age (or not!). He’s still that crazy rambunctious puppy who terrorises other dogs, begging them to play and barking at them when they don’t. He’s a greedy fella who makes me think I’m the greatest chef in the world (in the dog world maybe!) and he still gets crazy eyes when excited.

But I’ve also found more white hair around his eyes and he sleeps in more and later now. He doesn’t even get up early enough to jump onto the bed as he used to 😔

4 years is practically adulthood in doggy years and I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to spend lots of time together even if I bemoan having to bring him everywhere I go.

Happy 4 years boy ❤️

We just started retailing our dog treats @quandogtreats at our first offline outpost! We’re available exclusively at Lex’s Patio Pantry @lexpatiopantry, a brand new cosy spot in the heart of Bangsar.

Housed at the base of Kapas Condominium, (enter from Jalan Penaga), you’ll find the brand new Lex’s Patio Pantry, a curated grocer with pantry staples and a little cafe set up offering breakfast and lunch. It’s a lovely spot that is quiet and green, filled with all sorts of wonderful goodies, and is best of all, pet friendly! Scroll to the end to see what my efforts are like trying to get a photo with the kid 😒

This explains my lack of updates generally. Been very busy preparing for this, and amazingly enough, moving operations again! It’s a long sucky story but it might have just turned out for the best for us so as they say about windows opening and closing, sometimes you just have to go with the flow and look for the open window when doors close.
