Has your makeup preferences changed post-pandemic? I’m rekindling my enjoyment for wearing makeup

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, when we were forced to stay indoors, I’d ditched any semblance of wearing makeup. Why bother, when you won’t be going out, or wearing a mask. It felt like a waste of time and effort (and in many ways, it was).

When restrictions lifted and life began going back to normal, I still balked at wearing makeup. My lifestyle had changed. I was spending more times outdoors, less time being social, and wearing masks all the time. This hasn’t changed in over 3 years, and realistically I don’t expect it to change very much going forward.

But over the last few months, I’ve had the occasion to put on some makeup for social events, and I have to say that I’ve actually found it fun! 😀

Now that Tom Ford beauty is finally here in Malaysia, I share some thoughts on what I own

June 6, 2018 Paris B 18 Comments

Over the weekend, I shared a bit of beauty news over on Instagram. Tom Ford Beauty is in Malaysia! Finally! I hear some of you cry, and truthfully, that was my first reaction too the first day I heard the news about a month ago. I was sworn to secrecy so I was good and waited till the first boutique opened in KLCC a few days ago, before I reported it LOL!

I wasn’t expecting people to get excited about it haha! I guess I underestimated Malaysian beauty afficionados (and their wallets!)! I also got some queries about the products, what I thought, what I might pick etc, so as Sylvia suggested, I decided to do a mini round-up based on the few Tom Ford pieces I own.

I will explain why my Tom Ford Beauty collection is small too. Well, it isn’t tiny, but it is very small by most makeup collector and blogger standards 🙂 I’ll expect you to share your faves as well, so I know what else to add! 😉

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 3: Brushes I use for Blush

January 13, 2017 Paris B 6 Comments

I hope you’ve found the Makeup Brush Collective Part 1 and Part 2 helpful or at least enjoyable! In Part 3, and the final part, I show you the brushes I use most often and the types of brushes I use for cheeks. While in this category there’s usually reference to bronzer, blush and highlighter, I only really use blush the most often. So, I’ll only show you that. I don’t use bronzer, and highlighter is used only sparingly.

Blush is a weakness of mine, and you’d think that this would be the category where I own or use the most brushes. Well, you’d be wrong actually, because I’d actually worked out quite quickly what worked and what didn’t for me, and what sort of brush I preferred! Also, I’m not very experimental when it comes with blush LOL!

Don’t forget, you have to tell me what your favourite blush brushes are too! 😀

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 2 : Brushes I use for Eye Makeup

January 11, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

We follow on from Part 1 of the Brush Collective (where I showed you my preferred brushes for face makeup) and head to the brushes I use for eye makeup. This is rather lengthy, as there is a lot for me to show you! Not because I’m showing off, but because I use different types of brushes for different applications and there are different brushes in each category.

I was never good at applying eye makeup. I actually started out using my fingers (which I still use in a pinch especially with cream eyeshadow sticks). Over the years however, with a lot of experimentation, I’d worked out the type of brushes I liked to use for a specific purpose, simply to make my life easier. I’m no professional makeup artist and I’m not even very good at doing eye makeup, so if you’re just like me, then these suggestions may help you get that one step closer to better looking eyeshadow application 🙂
