Skincare Quickie: The Good, The Fair and The One I’d Rather Not Talk About

March 21, 2013 Paris B 26 Comments

ujene collagen, strivectin photowhite night cream, h20+ night cream

I’ve come to realise that skincare is almost as personal as a fragrance. Unlike makeup where you can tell from a glance if its you or it isn’t, you can’t do the same with skincare. Sometimes, it may be the best thing ever to your best mate, but on you, hello, pizza face!

And sometimes, you just get something mediocre that you don’t feel anything about. Well, here’s 3 products that I didn’t feel enough about for now, to write full reviews for, but which conveniently fell into 3 distinct categories – the good, the bad and the ugly LOL! Ok, not that bad. So, I’ll call it the good, the fair and the one I’d rather not talk about because seriously, I would rather NOT talk about it at all 😛

Before I tell you which is which, how about you take a little guess to see which one I liked and which I didn’t and you can also share your experience with any of these with me if you have tried them – when it comes to skincare, we need all the input we can get! 🙂

New! Strivectin-TL 360° Eye Serum promises lifted, younger looking eyes

January 18, 2013 Paris B 14 Comments

One of the more effective products I’d tried from Strivectin quite many years ago was the Strivectin-SD eye cream. It worked quite well for the fine lines around my eyes but as is wont to happen with me and eye creams, it fell by the wayside. I think I almost finished the tube but I never repurchased because I got slack and went without eye cream for ages. Oops! 😛

Well, there’s a new eye serum now out at the counter from Strivectin, which is the Strivectin-TL 360° Eye Serum that claims to tighten and visibly lift the sagging skin around the eye area, so eyes look younger.

I looked up some info on this, and it appears that this eye serum is targetted at those of 40 years and up, and those who have loss of firmness round the eye area, or droopy lids. Hmm… I’m not 40… yet! And I don’t think I’m experiencing droopy lids just yet so I’m not sure how effective this will be for me to try. But I’ll give it a go and see how it feels, if anything, and report back. For now, here’s a quick rundown on the product if you’d like to know more about it.

Your favourite (and not so favourite) Beauty Items in 2010

December 29, 2010 Paris B 49 Comments

During the weekend, I asked you for your favourite non-beauty item in 2010 and I was so amused to see that we have so many gadget geeks among us. Gadget geeks unite! 😀

Anyway with each day, we’re slowly but surely heading to the close of 2010 and a new year of 2011, so I thought it might be fun for us to share our faves and duds of the year in terms of beauty products, this time 😉

a few of my fave things in 2010

Like every year, 2010 saw a slew of new products head our way. Some of us took the plunge and tried the new items, some of us didn’t, preferring to stick to the tried and true. Some of us rediscovered old favourites in the process and some of us discovered pure lumps of coal. Duds. They are the bane of trying anything new.

Would you want to share your favourite and not so favourite beauty products of 2010 with us? 🙂

I’ll start and you can just follow on in the comments 😀

Strivectin Instant Moisture Repair Daily Hydrator: Did You Help My Dry Cheeks?

November 11, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Here’s a product I’ve been using for quite a few months. I didn’t quite know what to make of it, hence my reluctance to rush into a review. But a recent experience left me wondering if my skin condition might not have been helped by this moisturizer, so I figured the time was now right 🙂

review strivectin instant moisture daily hydrator

The Strivectin Instant Moisture Repair is a moisturizer. Actually, the press release said that it was not just a moisturizer, but with a title like “Daily Hydrator” and after using it, I’ll say its a moisturizer, just one that perhaps is designed to work a little better. I found the texture a little odd – a bit thick yet not oily and it absorbs very quickly. It comes in a tube with a pump, which is easy to use. It pumps out very easily and I use about 1 to 1.5 pumps spread between my palms and then on my face and neck.

So why do I say that I was a bit on the fence about this one?
