Stage Cosmetics Trio Traveller Brush Set passes the travel test

September 30, 2009 Paris B 20 Comments

I’ll be honest, I was not and still am not super impressed by Stage Cosmetics makeup brushes. But I’m always more forgiving when it comes to travel sized brushes or brush sets because no brand I know makes wonderful travel sized brushes that rival the quality of the full sized brushes. They are all lacking something…

So, when I found that I was going to be doing a bit of travel and needed to travel light, I put the Stage Cosmetics Trio Traveller brush set to the test. I already own a few travel sized brush sets but in every set I own, there are either so many brushes in there to make the pouch a tad bulky and I only ever end up using one or two brushes (Momo Minerals) or the pouches and brushes are too large – see Shu Uemura.

The Stage Trio Traveller comes in a very slim compact case with just 3 brushes – face/blush brush, and 2 eye brushes. What I liked about this set was the face/blush brush. It is soft on the skin and firm enough to double up for powder and blush which is great for travelling light – just make sure you clean it off on a piece of tissue after using blush. How to get your lips smooth and kissable!

July 28, 2009 Paris B 38 Comments

How to get smooth lips

I love lipsticks but because I wear lipsticks, my lips are less forgiving if I get lazy and don’t exfoliate them or get them nice and smooth before applying lip colour. Lip gloss is more forgiving in general.

What I’ve also learnt from trial and error is that most lipsticks, even the most drying and matte, can look good on you PROVIDED you prepare your lips properly before applying said lipstick. Whether you like the feel of lipstick of course is a different matter 🙂

Here are some tips I have. Please feel free to add more!

1. Drink lots of water

Drink the requisite 8 glasses of plain water a day. The skin on our lips is very thin and when you are dehydrated, its one of the first places it shows up. Think dry puckered lips – not very pretty is it?

2. Do not bite or lick your lips

So you think biting or licking your lips is cute around boys? Well, your lips don’t think so! Biting injures the delicate skin on your lips and licking only serves to dry them out further. If your lips are feeling dry, use a lipbalm – saliva is not a substitute. If your lips are peeling or chapped, exfoliate them gently to remove the dead skin then apply lipbalm.

3. Use lip balm to stave off dry lips

If you have dry lips or lips prone to chapping, carry a lipbalm around with you. I’m not one for lipbalm though I know many girls are. I used to use Chapstick because there was no flavour. The latest I’m using is Stage WonderBalm (RM40). Its smooth and emollient and has a very very light citrus scent I don’t mind but otherwise there’s no taste. If you dislike flavoured lipbalm you might like this one.

Stage Cosmetics – Malaysia’s first premier makeup brand

November 18, 2008 Paris B 41 Comments

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players
~ Shakespeare, As You Like it

You might have walked past a new makeup store in town that looks something like this:-

Stage Cosmetics

… and you might have wondered “What is Stage?”

Stage is a new local cosmetics brand that is presently available in a number of cities around Malaysia and in Singapore and soon Brunei. In Kuala Lumpur, you will find Stage at MidValley Megamall and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur (look for the Padini Concept Store).

I was recently introduced to this new brand together with fellow bloggers Beetrice of Beetrice’s Reviews, Kahani and Syen of Soloverly and Kimberly of Narcississm is Necessary (most apt!) where we had a good time playing with the products Stage has to offer, all thanks to Beetrice and a lovely friend MK. Never let beauty/female bloggers loose in a makeup store! LOL…

It is easy to dismiss the brand as just another MAC Cosmetics or Makeup Store or Make Up For Ever wannabe. But, I always believe that every brand has its own strengths and in that sense, so does Stage. In fact, Stage is a homegrown brand – conceptualized right here in Malaysia with products sourced from all over the world – Italy and Germany included.

Having played around with some of the products Stage has to offer, there are 4 products that stand out most at Stage cosmetics from my point of view:-
