Fab or Fad? Which of these wildly popular beauty gadgets and beauty fads are you still using?

August 20, 2013 Paris B 77 Comments

beauty gadget hype

I was doing a bit of thinking recently. Dangerous business, this thinking thing 😛

But I was thinking of all the beauty gadgets and fads that have hit us with cult status at one time or another through the years and how many I’d fallen for just “to try” and how much money I have wasted over time. Yeah, I think you know my answer to my question above.

I have followed fads and although they were fab at the time, just how many of they are still fab for me months or years down the road?

I’m going to share with you a couple of beauty gadgets and fads that I’ve tried and you can tell me if you too have fallen for them or any other fad or gadget du jour, and whether you are still using them. Deal? 😀 Onward!

Review: Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat Top Blush Brush

April 6, 2009 Paris B 16 Comments

I’d been wanting the Sonia Kashuk Flat Top brush for ever. And when I got my paws on it, I was a very happy camper indeed!

Sonia Kashuk Flat Top brush

The Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat Top brush was designed for applying cream blushes. The bristles are synthetic to make it easier to clean off the cream blush and so it doesn’t get absorbed unlike natural hair. Like the powder brush, the handle is contoured to fit into your hand comfortably. Again, I’d prefer it if it was fatter. Brush handles should not be anorexic!

I was quite surprised when I first saw the brush head. I thought it would be similar to the Anna Sui Flat Top Blush Brush I own, but when compared side by side, the Anna Sui brush head is noticeably bigger. So, I was quite nonplussed by that.

Review: Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush

January 12, 2009 Paris B 27 Comments

We love the Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush, yes we do! 😀 That about sums up how I feel about the powder brush in a nutshell. Now, onto slightly more detailed thoughts.

Sonia Kashuk Powder brush

The Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush is available at Target stores or Target.com and only available in the USA. Mine came courtesy of a good gal pal to whom I am eternally grateful for getting these for me.

I love how the handle of the brush is curved. It allows it to fit nicely in your palm although I’d have preferred if it was slightly thicker so it fits better. The brush head is full and oh! so soft! I cannot quite describe how soft it is, but if you can imagine airy cotton wool on a brush, this is it.

Lovely Brushes from Sonia Kashuk at Target

December 19, 2008 Paris B 27 Comments

In all the time browsing the forums makeupalley.com a brand of makeup brushes would pop up very often that intrigued me – Sonia Kashuk found at Target. Yep! Not a high end brand of brushes, but a cheap (relatively) line at a cheap department store…. but found only in the USA – BOO! 🙁

So I asked around but for some reason, no one could help me get it. Friends who went to the USA too could not find the brushes for some strange reason. However, being patient has its virtues because my lovely gal-pal Giddy Tigress has delivered the popular Sonia Kashuk brushes right into my grubby little paws! 😀 Thank you so much, GT!

Sonia Kashuk Makeup brush

A couple of days ago, I received my Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush ($19.99) and Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat blush brush ($14.99). 2 brushes I’d been wanting for the longest time, especially after reading about them on Karen’s blog.
