The Makeup Brush Collective Part 2 : Brushes I use for Eye Makeup

January 11, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

We follow on from Part 1 of the Brush Collective (where I showed you my preferred brushes for face makeup) and head to the brushes I use for eye makeup. This is rather lengthy, as there is a lot for me to show you! Not because I’m showing off, but because I use different types of brushes for different applications and there are different brushes in each category.

makeup brushes for eye makeup

I was never good at applying eye makeup. I actually started out using my fingers (which I still use in a pinch especially with cream eyeshadow sticks). Over the years however, with a lot of experimentation, I’d worked out the type of brushes I liked to use for a specific purpose, simply to make my life easier. I’m no professional makeup artist and I’m not even very good at doing eye makeup, so if you’re just like me, then these suggestions may help you get that one step closer to better looking eyeshadow application 🙂

Virtual Visit: Chanel Autumn/Fall 2012 and new items/brands I spotted recently at Sephora

August 3, 2012 Paris B 47 Comments

Ah I haven’t done a walkaround the beauty halls for a long long time. I’ve been so busy that the malls and beauty counters are starting to look quite alien to me. I initially was planning to pick up the Rose Initiale blush from Chanel’s Fall collection but some circumstances have resulted in me forbidding myself from buying it. I know. Its a silly thing to do but there you go! I will not be owning Rose Initiale in the interim.

Chanel Fall/Autumn 2012

However, thanks to friends, I did visit the Chanel counter anyway to help a friend pick up a couple of items from the Fall 2012 collection including Rose Initiale! So I get to buy it after all 😀 I just don’t get to keep it LOL! Here’s what it looks like at the counter. Its just out and there are lip glosses, lipsticks, eyeshadows, a blush and oh so many things! 😛

I’ll just share some quick thoughts I had on the collection (plus a picture of the star product face powder), and also share some pictures of a couple of new items I spotted while at Sephora KL. Its a free and easy sort of day today and you can just tell me what you think or what you’ve been up to 🙂

Helping you stop your makeup from melting with the Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder

January 20, 2012 Paris B 14 Comments

So, the Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is just around the corner now, and its the time most of us meet up with relatives (love it or hate it!) and spend time with our families. This is also the time we go around to visit friends, to catch up over the year that we never bothered to stay in touch. It was more fun as kids when I’d have lucky red packets to collect (cash FTW!) but now I don’t get it anymore, its a chore 😛

But if there is one consistent thing about Chinese New Year, it is the weather. Over here in the tropics, it tends to be boiling hot at this time of year. So much so, we call it “Chinese New Year weather”. And if you try traipsing around houses in this heat, you will inevitably find your makeup melting. Well, I have a solution! 😀

smashbox through the lens kit

I discovered the Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder in the Behind The Lens set that came out at Christmas, and I swear by this to keep melting makeup at bay. I think having a face primer under the makeup helps some, but the icing on the cake is really the Photo Set Finishing Powder.

I wore this one day, trudged around the city in the hot hot sun and still looked pretty much pulled together by the end of it. It somehow just managed to hold foundation without running or melting, blush colour looked pretty vibrant and the only thing I might see melting somewhat was eyeshadow.

December 21, 2011 Paris B

Contest Ended. Winners are Ksuan87 and Hasegawa Ayane

Hi Ladies

Did you think the Dior Rouge Dior lipstick giveaway would be the last? No it isn’t! 😀 I have another here and perhaps… just perhaps… a couple more to come 😉

As for today, remember that Snap You’re Fab lipgloss set from Smashbox I showed you? I like it but seriously, I only have 1 pair of lips and there are 6 gorgeous lipglosses in there (*cough* not to mention the rest I have in the drawer *cough*)

smashbox lipgloss set

So happily for 2 readers, I’ve decided to share the love 😀 I’m breaking up the set to be shared with 2 readers – Each winner will get 1 full sized lip gloss and 1 travel sized one from the set. The only one you can’t have is It Girl (marked X) because I’ve already used it 🙂

Oh and this is open worldwide wherever you can get MWS! So head on to find out how to participate 😉 I don’t like long contest times, so you only have a very small window of opportunity to take part – keeps things interesting yes? 😉
