Review: Silkygirl Eyeshadow Duo and blush

July 10, 2008 Paris B 14 Comments

Since I was writing about Silkygirl’s new makeup stuff in a previous post, I dug out an old picture of the eyeshadow duos for a review. You will notice that the eyeshadow duos in my picture say “Wet n Wild”. That was what Silkygirl was before. Don’t get it confused with Wet n Wild Cosmetics found in the USA though (they are awesome and cheap too!). The name was the same but practically nothing else was.

A few years ago, Wet n Wild cosmetics in Asia was rebranded into Silkygirl Cosmetics (presumably to avoid this confusion with the WnW USA brand) The company and products remained the same, only the name and packaging was changed.

New from Silkygirl : Liquid Foundation, Shimmer Blush and Stick Concealer

July 7, 2008 Paris B 27 Comments

I was out trawling the malls over the weekend which is something I haven’t had the time to do for a long while. I also wanted to check out something from the pharmacies when my eye was caught by some new stuff at the Silkygirl counter.

Silkygirl Perfect Cover Concealer

A new creamy stick concealer from Silkygirl. The Perfect Cover concealer comes in 2 shades – Light 01 and Medium 02. I found that Light 01 was light, but a little yellow. It was very creamy though – so creamy that it felt like it was melting! It was slightly thick and I reckon it might conceal marks and discolouration better than dark eye circles. At RM14.90 I might try it one day especially since there’s a promotional price of RM12.90 now.

Budget Makeup: I only have RM200 for makeup – Part 2

February 1, 2008 Paris B 7 Comments

In Part 1 of my Budget Makeup recommendations, I talked about budget foundations and blushes that don’t cost an arm and a leg and still do what they are supposed to do – help make you look beautiful.

In Part 2 I will do the rest of the face – eyeshadows, lipsticks and miscellaneous items.

For budget eyeshadow here are my personal preferences:

Budget makeup: I only have RM200 for makeup – Part 1

January 31, 2008 Paris B 10 Comments

I had a reader email me once to ask me how to buy makeup if she only had RM200 to RM250 to spend on makeup. Well, the point to note here is that good or at least decent makeup doesn’t have to be expensive. You can get some items that are of pretty decent quality at the pharmacy or drugstore and once applied, no one will be any wiser. I’m not kidding!

The nice thing about budget makeup is that it is cheap and often go on sale. So, if you are in the need of a pick-me-up and don’t want to blow a lot of money, just pop along to a pharmacy and pick up a lipstick. You’d be surprised at how much a new lipstick can do to brighten up your day.

I will be doing my personal recommendations for budget makeup over 2 parts so it doesn’t get too long. These brands I mention are easily found in most pharmacies including Guardian, Watson’s, Caring etc and if you have a Sasa, look in there too.

I will start with the Face – foundation and blush.
