Swipe on a lacquered shine on lips with Shu Uemura Laque Supreme in BG01, PK01 and RD02

March 30, 2015 Paris B 20 Comments

Many years ago, I had the chance to visit a lacquerware factory when visiting Vietnam. I saw first-hand how Vietnamese lacquerware was made, and I was told that the best way to get the high glossy shine associated with good quality lacquerware, was to polish the products by hand. No machine could measure up to the shine and sheen that could only be brought forth by hand.

Which explains why high quality lacquer ware is expensive, and due to the materials used and effort and skills, lacquerware is primarily decorative these days instead of used for practical purposes.

But it is that glossy shine of a high quality lacquer product that inspired Shu Uemura’s Laque Supreme lip colours.

Shu Uemura Laque Supreme RD02

Inspired by Japanese lacquerware, Shu Uemura offers a lip colour that is lightweight, glossy, shiny and pigmented. I like the black tubes it comes in, because that is very in keeping with the theme, and there is a nice window of colour so you know which ones you have.

I won’t classify these as lip glosses. They are much more pigmented, so I’d place them in the category of liquid lipstick, but the liquid texture allows you to dial back on colour and pigment as you see fit. Since I love lip colours, how do you think these fared for me? I can tell you that a quick online search will yield you mostly raves; that this is the best thing since sliced bread!

Tagged, I’m It! Paris Picks : 5 Makeup Products I’d Pick in a Pinch

October 16, 2013 Paris B 62 Comments

Goodness, I haven’t done a blog tag in such a long time that it is almost refreshing to be remembered and tagged by a fellow blogger! Haha! Back in the days when I first started blogging, we’d be forever tagging each other to do these things, but I haven’t done one of these for a while so it’s nice to go back to basics.

Marina of Makeup4all tagged me last week to share a 5 Product Makeup post and I thought it was so refreshing to be tagged, I’d do it!

5 product makeup tag

Essentially, all I had to do was pick 5 products I’d use to do my makeup. It wasn’t hard but it wasn’t easy either because you know us women. We’d have 300 scenarios in our head for what we’d need to doll up for and it’s always that 301st that has us stumped 😛

But I picked out these 5 products on the basis that with only 5 products, I’d go simple and keep my focus on looking flawless. Before you read mine, put on your thinking caps, there will be a test!

What’s in my makeup and skincare pouch? The Beach Holiday Edition

July 17, 2012 Paris B 54 Comments

Ladies! I’m just back from a relaxing holiday by the beach and am only just starting to get back into the swing of things. You know, holidays are both a bane and a boon. I’m thankful for them for recharging and yet, you know that post-holiday slump we all fall into? Yeah I’m in that slump now. I hope you’ve had lots to read here on MWS to keep you occupied over the past few days while I get back on the bandwagon and on track 🙂

So since I had nothing planned for today’s post, here, have a peek at what I took with my on my short holiday by the sea where I pretty much did nothing but sit on the beach, soak up some sun, stuff my face silly with food and just generally relax 🙂

Finally! The Breakdown of What is in that Epic Cosmetics Travel Kit!

June 6, 2012 Paris B 72 Comments

A while ago, I showed you a birds eye view of the epically large cosmetics kit that I packed ostensibly for travel. Firstly, I’d just like to say that if I were truly travelling for work or even for a holiday, I never pack a kit this massive. My travel cosmetics kits fit in 1 pouch and usually look something like this.

This time however, I was headed home for my brother’s wedding and I knew I had to look good so I could not risk a breakout or reactions to new products, and I also knew that I’d be sharing all sorts of stuff with my sister who had warned me that she wasn’t packing anything so could I just bring extra? Ah yes, sisters 🙂

So I packed full sizes of almost everything and packed exact products of skincare I had been using at the time. The bag turned out to be extremely large and probably weighed about 5kg 😛 I could be exaggerating, I’m not sure. But here’s what went in there.
