Review: Skincare: Sana Ho Jun Ki Royal Jelly Cleansing Oil

December 24, 2008 Paris B 12 Comments

On my last trip to Singapore, I picked up a Sana Ho Jun Ki Royal Jelly Cleansing Oil from Sasa. I have a penchant for trying out new cleansing oils of the low end variety even if I know full well that my holy grail is the Kanebo Blanchir Make Off Conditioner, which is the cleansing oil from the Kanebo Blanchir line. Still, I can’t stop myself experimenting.

Sana Ho Jun Ki Cleansing Oil

Anyway, I picked up the Sana Ho Jun Ki oil cleanser because I was intrigued by the fact that it is supposed to contain royal jelly. Also, the packaging looked pretty, even if I later found out that it was just the printing on the label.

There is no fragrance in the Sana oil cleanser so that’s good. However, a quick perusal of the label on the back of the bottle stopped me in my tracks a little. The label clearly stated that the Sana cleansing oil contains mineral oil. Now, we know that mineral oil can irritate many people’s skin so I was quite wary.

Review: Makeup: Sana Maiko-han liquid Foundation

Sana Foundation

I picked up the Sana Maiko-han liquid foundation on my last trip to Singapore. The foundation comes in a heavy solid glass bottle with very pretty patterns embossed on the frosted glass. The whole package looks so compact and delicate and so unlike the normal bottles of liquid foundation you get in the market. Truly, the Japanese have some things or two to teach the world about the wonders of packaging!

When I tested the foundation in the store, it was a toss up between 01 and 02 the 2 lightest shades. 01 when I dabbed on my hand looked very white, but 02 looked too yellow. So, I settled for 01. There are only 3 shades available by the way, so girls of darker skin tone will be hardpressed to find a match.

What do you use to apply liquid foundation?

July 11, 2008 Paris B 23 Comments

When I was last in Singapore, I was fascinated by and picked up the Sana Maiko-Han foundation brush and mixing palette set. This pretty set of short foundation brush and 5 Japanese designed mixing palettes cost S$29.90.

I’ve never really used a brush for liquid foundation before. I’d always used my fingers mainly because I found that it spread better. I’ve used this brush twice so far and I’m thinking ambivalent thoughts about it.

Sana Maiko Han Geisha inspired Makeup

June 9, 2008 Paris B 11 Comments

I was down in Singapore over the weekend when I stumbled on the brand Sana in a Sasa store. I had read about this Japanese brand before but had never seen it in person so I was quite taken in by the pretty cherry blossom packaging.

Out of curiousity, I picked up 3 items. 2 of them, a liquid foundation and a foundation brush and mixing palette set was from the Sana Maiko-Han series. Continue Reading
