Give your anti-aging skincare a boost with Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence

November 24, 2016 Paris B 9 Comments

A little over a month ago, I went South to Singapore with Olay to preview a new product, that is now available in stores. When I clapped my eyes on the Olay Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence, I couldn’t help stifling a grin. Truly, there’s now no escaping the pre-essence or treatment essences phenomenon. Especially not when you have affordable options now!

olay miracle boost youth pre-essence

What the Olay Miracle Boost is, is a product that you put on your skin after cleansing (and acid/exfoliating toner if you use it) and BEFORE other serums, essences or moisturiser. Hence the name – pre-essence. If you don’t use an acid toner, you’d apply this immediately after cleansing.

What it is supposed to do, is to boost (hence the name) surface cell renewal, and this increased cell metabolism helps your anti-aging serums and moisturisers work more efficiently. Aside from the boosting activity, it also boosts skin hydration, and that is something I hold dear to my heart. It does what many pre-serums, treatment essences or pre-essences promise to do… for a wallet friendly price! 😉

Paris Picks! The CC Cream Edition – 3 CC Creams I’ve been using recently

October 20, 2014 Paris B 22 Comments

You know, it took me a long while to warm up to BB Creams and it wasn’t until I eventually found some that actually worked for me that I actually warmed up to the idea of using them. By that time, CC Creams had come on the scene and I had a headdesk moment. I was going to have to re-learn the whole notion of alphabet creams again!

CC Creams, or Colour Correcting creams claimed to be an improvement on BB Creams. They boasted a lighter texture, and colour correcting pigments instead of mere tint. If you ask me however, barring some truly colour correcting creams that are basically primers to correct sallowness or redness in skintone, there is very little to distinguish BB or CC Creams. So you know what? Don’t bother. Just use whatever you like, whatever it may be called. Even if it be a GG (Glamorously Gorgeous) Cream which isn’t yet invented but which just might be 😛 Remember however, it is first and foremost a makeup item, not skincare so please clean it off accordingly and please do not attempt to sleep in it.

But because everyone loves labels, I thought I’d share with you 3 CC Creams I’ve tried that I actually like and use pretty often. It might surprise you that a popular CC Cream that was said to have started the whole trend isn’t here in my list, but you know, that’s life 🙂 I just found myself preferring these. So let me quickly share them with you because I’ve never reviewed them individually before this and I’ve got a tip for making these CC Creams work better for me! 😀

Cool off and help skin stay hydrated with Olay Aquaction Long Lasting Hydration Gel

July 10, 2014 Paris B 30 Comments

I don’t know about you guys, but where I am now, the weather is so darned hot, I don’t even feel like putting anything on my skin! Ok, let me rephrase that. I don’t feel like putting anything heavy on my skin. It’s usually quite humid here but the burning sun seems to have burned up all the humidity so it actually feels quite dry. And HOT!

So, when I’m faced this THIS pool of quivering jelly, all I want to do is dive right in!

olay aquaction longlasting hydration gel

This blue transparent gel is the Olay Aquaction Longlasting Hydration Gel. Part of the Olay Aquaction range, this range is currently only available in South East Asia – previously only Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand and now also Phillippines, I believe.

While I don’t get regional releases, I understand why a product like this would be released in our region, because it suits our weather to a T! The very lightweight gel feels very comfortable on our skin especially in hot and humid tropical weather, and it delivers a burst of hydration to the skin that we so desperately need, without turning our skin oily.

It’s been available for a while now, so I’d be curious if you have tried it and like it? 🙂

Olay, together with beauty bloggers, explains how their cream outperforms prestige face creams

February 6, 2014 Paris B 20 Comments

Hey everyone!

Remember when I went Down Under with Olay late last year? I learned some interesting things about skincare graveyards and some science behind skin fatigue that some of you enjoyed reading too. Well, Olay has done a short documentary and some of us had a bit part starring role so you get to see & hear what we have to say 😀

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪
Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam ( Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam (night market). Popped by the one in SS2. Frenetic. Crowded. Lots of food and drink. Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂
Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunt Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunting had me curious about Azelaic acid. It’s a pretty good serum for brightening if Vit C isn’t quite your thing. It’s a 4-in-1 combo of pretty potent ingredients.

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
