I love the Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence so much I almost did not want to tell you about it!

September 21, 2018 Paris B 54 Comments

I’d been debating for a while whether to spill the beans on one of my favourite Vitamin C serums to date.

On the one hand, there are some things I’d like to keep to my self, hugging it to my chest with a sly smile, knowing it’s my little secret. On the other hand, I’m a damn blogger, prone to sharing LOL!

So, I guess I’ll tell you about the Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Essence aka Melano CC Vitamin C Essence after all.

Melano CC, from what I understand, is a Japanese brand under the Rohto-Mentholatum umbrella (the same one that houses Hada Labo). If I’m not mistaken, they only have one range, which focuses on the use of Vitamin C.

I remember someone telling me about it once, a few years ago. It wasn’t until I came upon it in a pharmacy that I decided to pick one up to try. Yes, Melano CC is found in pharmacies (or drugstores) in Japan and in some other countries (but not yet Malaysia, unfortunately! So read on at your peril) Apparently, that’s changed! 🙂

Putting affordable sunscreen to the test! Skin Aqua Sarafit UV Mist and UV Essence SPF50+ PA++++

August 17, 2015 Paris B 21 Comments

Most of you are by now very familiar with my HG sunscreen aren’t you? I preach it from the rooftops, it would seem, and it gratifies me that almost everyone I’ve suggested it to likes it as much as I do. The only complaint we all have is one big one – price.

Yes, the Shiseido Perfect UV sunscreen might be perfect, but it comes at a high price that some of us might find galling to spend on a product you will use lavishly, and often and that you just must replenish! I mean, what else would you use right?

So I decided I’d try some affordable sunscreen and tell you what you think. This was one of my experiments.

I couldn’t possibly try every brand in the market, so I reached out to some PR people to ask if they had anything they were willing to put under my pretty microscopic scrutiny having a minimum of SPF50 and PA++++ rating. Happily, some were quite willing to hang it out there and the Skin Aqua Sarafit UV was one of them.

There are 2 versions of the Skin Aqua Sarafit UV sunscreens – one is a UV essence (cream) and the other is a mist. Let me first deal with the mist, so I can get it over and done with. Ah yep, I am not a fan of the mist version and I will tell you why!

New! Affordable Sun Protection with Mentholatum Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Milk, Watery Cool Body Mist and After Sun Gel

July 26, 2013 Paris B 15 Comments

Summer season sees a surge in sunblocks and sunscreens, which for us here in the tropics is a year round affair. Are you tired of me banging on about using sunscreen daily already? Well, sorry babes, gonna keep banging on about it!

With the huge selection of affordable sunscreen on our shores, there really is no excuse not to use it. I have my favourite one and its pricey, I acknowledge, but for those on a tighter budget (and that includes me because I’ve just put myself on a beauty diet!) here are some new and affordable alternatives from Mentholatum.

Mentholatum brought in their Skin Aqua sunscreen a few years ago and like many Japanese style sunscreen, it has a very lovely light emulsion texture that makes wearing it very comfortable. For some reason, the Japanese have done for sunscreen what few Western brands have managed to do – make sunscreen comfortable to wear!

Previously, we had the Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk but now there are another 2 products in their arsenal. The Skin Aqua UV Silky Smooth Milk SPF50 PA+++ and Skin Aqua UV Whitening Moisture Milk SPF50 PA+++ priced at an affordable RM35.90 each.

30 Days of Lip Colours Project: Did You Miss Any Or Have A Favourite?

August 30, 2011 Paris B 26 Comments

Before I go on, Happy Eid-ul Fitr / Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri to all Muslim readers! 😀 Enjoy your celebrations and the inevitable feasts 😀 I hope everyone else is enjoying the festive break wherever you are.

Ah, 4 months after I said I’d do a 30 Days of lip colours project, I’ve finally completed it. Yay for me 😛 Instead of boring everyone by going at it straight for 30 days as I did before, I opted to take it slow this time. Clearly, taking it slow means dragging it out but I’m glad I did, because in between, new lippies came into the picture which allowed me to showcase them (and give me an excuse to use them).

So by way of a round up, here are all 30 lip colours which include lipsticks and lip glosses. I will be on a break tomorrow (I’m presently away on vacation actually) but please come back in September. I have something terribly exciting lined up on the blog and I’m bursting to share the news. But it’ll have to wait till I get back 😉

Now, onto the 30 day project – did you miss any and do you have a favourite out of the 30 lip colours featured? Here are all 30 featured lip colours for your viewing pleasure.

Day 1-5 of 30 lipsticks

Day 1 – Burberry Lip Cover Lipstick in Delicate Rose No. 22

Day 2 – Rouge Dior Haute Color No. 880 Devilish Pink

Day 3 – Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Antigone No. 60

Day 4 – Mentholatum LipIce Water Colour in No. 03 Kissy Pink
