The Dramatic Melting Rouge that completes your glowing Maquillage

April 20, 2015 Paris B 22 Comments

I was asked once before, what got me hooked on wearing lipstick and my answer was “Japanese lipstick”. I measure every lipstick I wear against the yardstick of a Japanese brand lipstick because their textures embody everything I ever want in a lipstick – lightweight, creamy, moisturising, glowy and flattering. This was before the Western brands started coming out with the Dior Addicts and Rouge Cocos we are familiar with now. Trust me, the Japanese brands got there first, and every now and again, I feel the need to revisit my first loves.

While it may seem like I have a strong focus on Western brands, the only reason I’m even wearing makeup today is because of Japanese makeup. I’m a huge fan, but it’s hard to keep up when information is very low-key and hard to come by, and quite often new releases look the same as old releases.

But if there’s one thing I have to say about Japanese brands as well, is that they are given to the dramatic when naming products. The newest Japanese brand lipstick I had the pleasure of trying recently has the rather fanciful name of Dramatic Melting Rouge and is by Shiseido Maquillage.

Ok, I confess to not being a big fan of Maquillage. I played about with a few products when the brand first came about, but I was never very impressed, preferring to stick to the Shiseido mother-brand; so I’ve pretty much forgotten about it over the years. These new lipsticks however, do have me wanting to take a second look at them because yes, they are pretty amazing products.

New! Shiseido Maquillage Spring/Summer 2012 (Ooh! A new lipstick!)

April 6, 2012 Paris B 28 Comments

Oh gosh! Can you believe that I actually remember when Maquillage was first launched as a brand? I remember all the hype and next thing you know, you’re *ahem* older.I think they’ve been around 10 years already, if that. I’d only ever tried 1 eyeshadow palette from the brand in all this time. I’m not quite sure why.

2 more little tidbits before I show you a couple more photos from the Maquillage Spring/Summer 2012 collection

  1. Shiseido celebrates its 140th anniversary this year. 140 years is a heck of a long time to be around in the cosmetics business and this cosmetics giant must have gotten it right. So Happy Birthday, Shiseido!
  2. Japanese makeup lines tend to do 2 big collections a year – Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. You see their collections around a lot longer, and the colours transition easily into each season. This is by contrast to the Western brands that do 4 collections a year and leaves us all breathless.

Now onto Shiseido Maquillage Spring/Summer 2012 and that new True Rouge lipstick 🙂

Shiseido Maquillage Christmas Collection 2008

December 12, 2008 Paris B 15 Comments

While I was in Isetan yesterday, I happen to come across the Shiseido counter and stopped to take a look. I have never really been a fan of Shiseido makeup, mostly because I’m allergic to the eyeshadows from Shiseido The Makeup line. For some reason, Maquillage has never really grabbed my attention much.

But this time it did.

Shiseido Maquillage Christmas 2008

These are Shiseido Maquillage’s offering for Christmas 2008. An eyeshadow palette with 4 colours and a highlighter designed in collaboration with Christopher Kane, British fashion designer. The blue set is Princess Tiara (black case) and the Gold set is Noble Glamourous (gold case)  – names that don’t mean anything really.

Each decorated case comes with the eyeshadow inserts packed separately, and you can insert it yourself. Not quite sure why this is so but there you go. Kanebo Lavshuca did it with their Summer Gradually palette and I recall Majolica Majorca has done the same too. I just did not quite expect it of Maquillage which is priced higher than the other 2 brands.

That aside, I must say that I was positively blown away by the texture of the eyeshadows. Each set comes with 4 eyeshadow shades from light to dark and one large pan of highlighter. The highlighter in the blue set (a pale pink) is very pretty and sparkly while the gold one is less so.

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
