Attack Cellulite the Organic and Natural way with Madara Flower Attack

August 27, 2010 Paris B 4 Comments

Bodybar Skincare gifted me with a set of the Madara Flower Attack Set sometime back towards the end of 2009. Of all the natural and organic skincare I’ve used, Madara has thus far worked for me, and remains high on my favourite list and here was something for the body!

Madara Flower Attack Anti Cellulite review

The Flower Attack set consists of 3 items – body wash, body oil and body lotion. You can purchase them separately too which is great as I will tell you why in a bit 🙂 Oh and what this “attack” is is cellulite. This set of products claim to help fight the orange peel look of cellulite which all of us women are “blessed” with, and stretch marks 😛

madara toning shower gel anti cellulite cream review

Madara Toning Shower Soap (RM88/200ml) (link)

This shower soap is a lovely body wash. Washes clean and does not dry out the skin and is lovely overall. Only one snag. I do not get how a body wash can help reduce the look of cellulite nor of stretch marks. So, whilst its a lovely body wash, but I wouldn’t purchase it for its cellulite busting qualities. They do say that it preps the skin for the next bit of treatment so that might be it.

Madara Anti-Cellulite Cream (RM138/200ml) (link)

This is apparently, the second step in the Madara Anti-Cellulite range.  What it claims to do is “attack” the cellulite and promotes the breaking down of fat cells to give you smoother skin.

The cream is light, absorbs quickly and does not feel sticky or oily on the skin. I don’t have a bad case of cellulite or visible cellulite so I cannot say if it works. But it is lovely as a body lotion, leaving my skin feeling smooth and touchable after application; and if it works, all the better!

When I feel in need of extra moisture, I add some of the oil to the lotion. Its a right treat! Which brings us to the body oil which I really like.

Review: Madara Regenerating Night Cream

November 6, 2009 Paris B 2 Comments

I could have lumped this review with the introduction to the to Madara EcoCosmetics but I chose not to. The reason is because I found this night cream worthy of a special mention.

madara-night

I’ve been using the Madara Regenerating Night Cream for over 2 weeks now and my skin seems to be happy with it. Granted I’ve gotten my skin to a texture I’m very happy with now after feeding it sufficient moisture so my main concern with using this night cream was whether it would break me out.

It did not. However, I must warn you that this cream is quite thick and heavy on the skin. So use sparingly. After some experimentation, I now use slightly less than a regular pea size – its quite sufficient for this cream. If you use too much, your face might feel oily and greasy. If you use just the right amount, it sinks right into your skin and feels nice.

MADARA Organic Skincare : Foaming Cleanser and Deep Comfort Toner

November 6, 2009 Paris B 7 Comments

Early this week we were introduced to organic makeup in the form of Madara – a certified organic brand from Latvia. I had something else lined up today but I thought I’d tell you about the Madara EcoFace Organic Skincare before you go off to claim your samples this weekend 🙂 The products I was sent were the Madara Ecoface Deep Purifying Foam Cleaner and Deep Comfort Toner – the first 2 steps in any skincare regime.

Madara Deep Purifying Foam Cleanser – RM98/150ml

Now I’m a sucker for foaming cleansers – I love the convenience because you don’t have to do the lathering up, its already done for you with a pump of the bottle. The Madara Deep Purifying Foaming Cleanser does not disappoint in this regard.

The Madara cleanser has a light flower scent which is not disturbing, and cleans the skin a treat. I use it both in the morning and evening and after about 2 weeks, I’m still liking it. I’m also happy to report that I’ve not encountered allergies to this one. Previously I had problems with other organic brands where I developed contact dermatitis after being allergic to some of the ingredients. No problems with this one! 🙂

It might seem pricey off hand but I only use 1 pump each time. From experience with similar foaming cleansers of other brands, I can expect to get 3-4 months of use from this one.

Pros: Cleans skin well, Feels gentle, Lovely soft foam

Cons: Some might consider it pricey

Ingredient list: Ingredients: Aqua, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Alcohol, Glycerin*, Surcose Cocoate, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract*, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort) Extract*, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Extract*, Chamomilla Recutita (Camomile) Extract*

MADARA EcoCosmetics – Certified Organic Makeup

November 2, 2009 Paris B 29 Comments

Natural and Organic seems to be the latest keywords in the cosmetics industry and although we would be familiar with organic skincare, how familiar are you with organic makeup? Madara EcoCosmetics is one brand with organic makeup and we can now get it in Malaysia at Bodybar.

Madara is a brand from Latvia – I challenge you to tell me where that is! 😀 – and they use flowers and grasses from their region in their cosmetics. The organic makeup line is a little small for now consisting of Tinting Fluid, Tinting Lipgloss and Shimmering Lotion. We can get the former 2 products here. I’ve also included the Regenerating Lipbalm in the mix which straddles the border between makeup and skincare 🙂

madara_ecocosmetics

I’ve tried 3 of their makeup products thanks to Bodybar and first off, I must say that I love the packaging of Madara products. Its so sleek and pristine I’m impressed. Many brands that make eco-friendly or natural or organic products tend to have very utilitarian looking packaging – not so Madara. Great! Pleasing the eye is as important as pleasing the skin 😛

Madara Decoface Moon Flower Tinting Fluid – RM128/50ml

The Madara Tinting Fluid is what I’d prefer to call a tinted moisturizer. The reason I say so is because its not quite thick enough to function as foundation yet there is some tint in the product to help even out skin tone while keeping skin moisturized. It comes in 2 shades – Moon Flower (pink toned) and Sun Flower (yellow toned).

I tested it in Moon Flower. As I expected, the coverage is very light so it is good for those days when you don’t want foundation on your face yet want to even out your skin tone. It does not quite cover imperfections so you might still need a concealer for that.

Due to my light skin tone I found that this tinting fluid was a little dark on my skin. I’d say it would be more suitable for those who have medium skintones and onwards. If you are very fair you may find it unsuitable.

Texture wise my skin felt moisturized throughout the day. I also found that the tinting fluid looked better after about an hour when it had settled into my skin. It looked natural but it would be nice if the shade was a little lighter.

Sun Flower has noticable warm tones so if you have a warm skintone or a tan, I think it would look amazing on you! Read on below for a chance to score a free sample to try this for yourself 🙂

Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil*, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Distillate*, Glycerin*, Theobroma Cacao Seed (Cocoa) Butter*, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort) Extract*, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Extract*, Chamomilla Recutita (Camomile) Extract*, Algae Extract, Plantago Major (Plantain Leaf) Extract*, Cetearyl Glucoside, Capryloyl Glycine, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide***, Xantan Gum, Aroma**, Citral**, Eugenol**, Limonene**, Linalool** [+/- (may contain), Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)]
