Spring into April: L’Occitane Eco Refills, Clarins Everlasting Foundation, Biotherm Makeup Base, Estee Lauder Nutritious Vita Mineral Pressed Powder

April 3, 2010 Paris B 6 Comments

While we Spring into April lets take a look at a bunch of new cosmetics on offer by various brands. Actually, it matters not to me whether it is Spring or Summer since here at the MWS HQ in KL its always hot and recently always drenching us in crazy thunderstorms. But lets not talk about the weather and talk about some April newbies instead.

L’Occitane Eco Refills

L’Occitane goes eco friendly by offering refill packs for your favourite Shea Body Wash and Immortelle Foaming Facial Cleanser! I’m thinking of picking them up and sharing with a friend – its a lot cheaper buying refills when I already like the products and have empty containers handy 😉

Shea Butter liquid soap (Lavender, Sweet Almond, Verbena) – RM45/400ml
Immortelle Brightening Foaming Facial cleanser – RM139/300ml

Biotherm Makeup Base and Eye Illuminating Base

Biotherm harnesses the White D-Tox Bright Cell complex and puts it into a makeup base with colours to diffuse light and to give you a brighter more radiant look while helping with whitening action. There are 5 colours available – White (whitening), Ivory (Illuminating), Blue (luminosity), Green (anti-redness), Coral (rosy glow) and Purple (Even skintone). Pick your base to suit your needs. Comes complete with SPF30 for UVA and UVB protection. Also new is the Eye Illuminating Base with SPF20 and anti-blue pearl pigment to counteract dark circles and make your eye area look brighter. Definitely fascinating! I tried the old version of the Biotherm makeup base in Purple and it does even out skintone. I just haven’t come round to getting anymore.

Biotherm Makeup Base – RM135/30ml
Biotherm Eye Illuminating Base – RM135/30ml

News! L’Occitane to launch Peony Makeup collection

April 2, 2010 Paris B 17 Comments

L'Occitane Peony Makeup

Hot off the presses is news that French brand L’Occitane is launching a makeup collection in Europe in May 2010. How very fascinating! The theme of the collection is centered around the Peony flower as the products contain Peony extracts.

The makeup products will be skin friendly, and contain no parabens, so the news say. Images show lipsticks and face colour powder duos. The latter can be used on your face and eyes.

The packaging is cardboard and there is something vaguely familiar about the whole line. I cannot quite put my finger on it yet. The cardboard packaging reminds me of Stila but there is something about the whole line that is haunting me.

Review: Skincare: L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Foaming Cleanser

June 11, 2008 Paris B 17 Comments

I got my L’Occitane Immortelle Foaming Cleanser about 2 months ago and have been using it for about that length of time. I usually try to use skincare for a longer time to get a better gauge of it before I can give a proper review.

So, what do I think about my first L’Occitane skincare purchase?

I surprisingly, rather like it!

I like the packaging and the idea of using a foaming cleanser. The packaging comes in a translucent blue plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The translucent body makes it easy to see how much of the product is left, which I like. At least I know when I should be repurchasing, rather than waiting till there’s nothing left and then getting a horrid surprise in the morning.

L’Occitane Immortelle Foaming Cleanser

April 25, 2008 Paris B 12 Comments

When I want reviews and recommendations for skincare and sunscreen, one of the sites I turn to is Viva Woman. Sesame who runs it, is a well of information and does her research. So anyway, my foaming cleanser that I use for the mornings is on its last pump and is discontinued. So, I thought to try something new.

I remembered that Sesame had once written about a L’Occitane brightening foaming cleanser that she liked. So, having some spare cash available, I thought to give this one a shot.

I’ve never used L’Occitane facial products before so this will be a first! My purchase is coming from StrawberryNET.com at US$28 a bottle; so I’ll have to update in a week or two.

It’d better be good eh? 😛

Have a good weekend all!

PRICE UPDATE: I called the L’Occitane store in KLCC. This Immortelle Foaming cleanser is retailing here at RM103 (US$32+ at an exchange rate of 3.2) So I guess the answer to this question is – its cheaper at  StrawberryNET.com! 😉

Stay beautiful,
Paris B
