I wasn’t sure if I’d like the Shiseido Sports BB Broad Spectrum SPF50+Wetforce till I understood it better and now I’m in LOVE!

December 8, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

It’s taken me a little while to understand the new Shiseido Sports BB Broad Spectrum SPF50+ Wetforce product. But when I did, I wondered why I was so bloody obtuse in the first place!

shiseido sports bb tinted sunscreen

You’d think that it doesn’t take a genius to understand a tinted sunscreen. Hello. It exists and has existed for a while. What was so confusing about this one from Shiseido?

Well, for me, it was because this came to me, together with the new Shiseido Hydrofresh sunscreen. As they were both sunscreens, I treated this just as I would any other sunscreen. To be used liberally, and I did. But it bugged me. Used liberally, as I would a regular sunscreen, it was thick, and the tint was so fake and obvious. It was as if I’d caked on foundation. The formula was lovely, but it looked like I had too much makeup on.

In a way I had. But when I took a closer look at the product, suddenly, everything fell into place. Oh hello! The Shiseido BB For Sports SPF50+ PA++ Wetforce IS NOT A SUNSCREEN! DOH! 😛

Your Say: Do you have a No-Fail Foundation that you love above all others?

June 21, 2017 Paris B 33 Comments

The heading of this post says it all – I want to know your No-Fail Foundation.

That one foundation that you will automatically reach for when you want to put your best face forward. The one foundation that you know leaves you with a beautiful glow without too much effort.

no fail foundation - cle de peau radiant foundation

That one foundation that you reach for over and over again, and repurchase, because you just can’t live without it. That one foundation (or maybe more than one) that you are never without and that you can slap on any which way, and still have people oohing and aahing over how beautiful your skin looks.

THE ONE! Or maybe Two, or Three LOL! 😀

Step-by-step tutorial on how to achieve flawless base makeup, with expert tips by Felix Nguyen of Bobbi Brown

April 10, 2017 Paris B 20 Comments

If there’s one thing I particularly love about blogging and what I do, is the incredible opportunities I’ve had to meet with, talk to, and pick the brains of makeup artists, skincare founders and experts in the industry. It never gets old for me, and there’s always something new to learn.

It’s no secret that I love prying behind and digging deep into the different aspects of beauty, makeup and skincare, and I love it when some brands recognise that and give me the opportunity to do so (for better or for worse).

Recently, during the official launch of the new Bobbi Brown store at Pavilion KL (now on the 3rd Floor) I had the opportunity to catch up with one of my favourite makeup artists out there – Felix Nguyen, Regional Education & Artistry Manager of Bobbi Brown Asia-Pacific, who I unfortunately ambushed with a few hard questions about the brand. Oops! To his credit, he didn’t get flustered, and was quite open to share. The other pro makeup artist I love is Junior Cedeño of Dior, who single-handedly changed and cemented my foundation application technique for life.

It helps that they’re both hot (eye-candy helps you concentrate 😛 ). Unlike many makeup artists I’ve met, who are a little more distant and sometimes more aloof, Felix is friendly, and as generous with his makeup and skincare tips as he is with his boyish grins. Ok, I promise I’ll stop simpering after this 😛

So, while I was there, Felix did a little base makeup demonstration and I love learning new things about base makeup, so I was taking down copious notes. Since some of you on Instagram were so kind to compliment me on my generosity with sharing knowledge, I decided I’d be generous again this time. Ahem 😛

But here’s the rub. As a friend and I observed, while being back-benchers for the day, hiding behind the crowd who were there, mostly to get up close with the cute makeup artist (oops! there I go again!), the model had great skin to start with. Naturally, the thin layers of makeup, as Felix was explaining should be used, combined with his expert skills, would render her flawless without too much effort. How about picking one of us mortals, who have blemishes and all, instead? 😛

I was thinking about that, as I was writing up my post about the base makeup tips I’d picked up. So I decided I’d do you a step-by-step, to show you how he demonstrated how you can get a flawless base, but I’d use me – imperfections and all, and my rudimentary non-makeup artist skills. I really wanted to see if his tips would work for those of us at home, so I only attempted this once as you see here – without a lot of expectations 😀 It could have gone remarkably wrong.

I’m loving the EX1 Invisiwear Liquid Foundation and it absolutely lives all the way up to its hype!

April 7, 2017 Paris B 14 Comments

I’d never heard of EX1 Cosmetics. Ever. I think it was one of those brands that’s been popularized through social media (particularly Instagram) and it was one of those that slipped through my radar (I’m not really on the ball despite what you might think LOL!) I only really looked at it, because my friend Romana used to rave about their foundation. I was curious. Naturally!

When the opportunity arose, I decided to get myself a bottle, to see what the hype was about. It’s not very expensive, which is always a good thing and aids experimentation 🙂

I still don’t know much about the brand, but I’ve since learned that the EX1 Invisiwear Liquid Foundation is very popular and gets a lot of raves, because it is designed for those with yellow or olive undertones. Not having very significantly yellow or olive undertones myself, it was something I honestly can’t grasp but I know I count myself among the lucky ones when it comes to foundation. I can usually find a shade in most brands.

So EX1 Invisiwear Liquid Foundation – is it worth having a go at it sight unseen? 🙂

Popped out of my hermitage to visit the amazing Jo Popped out of my hermitage to visit the amazing Jo Malone installation at Mid Valley Megamall 😍 Jo Malone has always made gifting an experience, both for giver and receiver, and this is what their Jobots are here for - to help you find that perfect gift whether for a friend, family, or for yourself each time you manage to dodge the C-bullet 😆
Go check out the Jobots at Mid Valley Megamall Centre Court & experience their signature hand and arm massages, gift boxing, personalised engraving of your perfume bottles & candle jars & play with the vending machine. You could get lucky!
No prizes for guessing which Jobot installation was my favourite! The one with the dog of course! They also had a key chain with a dog. So. Bloody. Cute!!
And after so many years finally got a photo with event organizer extraordinaire @cyrus.chin because we didn’t get the white & beige memo and came instead in (unplanned) matching sunny coral instead 😂
It felt good to have makeup on, dress up and go out for a tiny little bit, and meet people I haven’t seen in literally years! Also to enjoy the scents (hard to smell with a mask on though) and the visual delights. Go check it out. They’re there at the Centre Court until Sunday 3 July.

I put on a full face of makeup today and when it came to my eyeshadow, I had a brain fart moment and forgot where they were! 😂 Looked through 3 drawers before I saw them and even then I thought “Did I ever have THIS MANY?!” I guess I do. And before you ask, yes they’re all expired 🫢
